#EShow Releases Sixth Set of Monthly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- The final month of the 2020-21 regular-season was nothing shy of entertaining for both the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League (EHLP). If there’s anything that the Junior hockey community learned from the month of February, it’s that the postseason will be electric at both levels.

Below you'll find the 6th set of monthly award winners in the #EShow. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie recognition comes courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHL is pleased to announce that Patriks Marcinkevics (New England Wolves), Kevin Bite (New England Wolves), and Matt Sayles (Protec Jr. Ducks) have been named the February Stars of the Month.

Marcinkevics and the Wolves finished the 2020-21 campaign in second place for the North Division and recorded an 8-2-0 record in their final 10 games. The native of Latvia netted 11 goals and chipped in five assists for 16 points in six games. Additionally, Macinkevics earned three-game winning goals over the month, which also ranks first for the Wolves this season. The 19-year-old also recorded a five-goal outing against the New Hampshire Avalanche, which was his first game played with New England.

Joining February’s top forward, the Wolves’ blueliner in Bite wasn’t a stranger to the scoresheet either. The 2000 born-native of Latvia tallied 14 points for February, while netting two goals and posting 12 assists. The defenseman also recorded two-or-more points on three occasions. Overall, Bite led all Wolves’ defensemen on the year with 30 points in 35 games played this season.

Between the pipes, Jr. Ducks goaltender Matt Sayles posted a 4-0-1 record for the regular season’s final month. Sayles was a key asset in Protec’s six-game winning streak to close out their inaugural season in the EHL.

The Milton, GA native posted a .937 save percentage and turned away a total 162 shots over the frame. The highlight of Sayles’ successful month was arguably his 34-save shutout against the league’s top-seeded squad in the New Jersey 87’s. After the Jr. Ducks’ 3-0 victory against New Jersey, Sayles became the first goaltender this season to blank the 87’s, and first ever masked man to do so on the road.

EHLP STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Nicholas Bouchard (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Alarcio Valentini (New England Wolves), and Nick Digiacomo (Lumberjacks Hockey Club) have been named the February Stars of the Month.

Bouchard helped the Little Flyers earn four victories for the month, while netting six goals and posting two assists for eight total points. Additionally, the Newark, DE native recorded two multi-goal efforts against the New Jersey Renegades. Bouchard leads Philadelphia with 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 total points. His 47 points rank second for the EHLP.

Moving back to the blueline, New England’s Valentini recorded 12 total points for the month. The Penfield, NY native netted one goal but also posted an impressive 11 assists in eight games played. Valentini’s month was highlighted by a four-point outing against the New Hampshire Avalanche, which also witnessed a 6-3 victory for the Wolves. Currently, the defenseman leads all Wolves skaters with 35 points.

Between the pipes, Digiacomo posted a 4-1-0 record and earned a 4-0 shutout against New England after turning away 31 shots – his first for 2020-21. The North Attleboro, MA native recorded 145 total saves for the month and improved his overall record to 8-3-0. Additionally, Digiacomo owns a .918 save percentage and 2.49 goals-against-average for the season. The ’01 born enters the postseason having recorded 30-or-more saves on seven occasions.
