The 2000-born native of Wadena, MN just finished his 2nd season with the Chiefs, and in 79 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), he tallied an even 28 goals and 28 assists.

"He has worked incredibly hard for this opportunity at SNHU," said Chiefs head coach and general manager Neil Breen. "I’m sure I speak for all of the staff when I say Max is an absolute pleasure to work with. His kindness, enthusiasm, and drive to win is infectious. We never had a doubt that Max would commit to a quality NCAA program. His work ethic and personality are engineered for success. We are thrilled for Max and his family and wish him well on his next adventure!”

With this commitment the streak is extended, as at least one EHL player per season has committed to SNHU since the league was formed back in 2013. Overall, the Co-Captain of the Chiefs is the 29th player in league history to choose the Penmen.

"Heading to the EHL was a great decision for me and my family," said Phillips. "The goal was to get to the NCAA ranks, so going to play for Coach Breen and the Chiefs was an incredible opportunity that truly prepared me for this moment and this commitment. The work isn’t done yet, but I definitely want to thank my parents, my coaches, and my teammates for all the support along the way.”

While the Chiefs season ended sooner than they had hoped, the EHL All-Star and his teammates can still be very proud of all that he and his teammates accomplished throughout a very trying year.
