Wizards Defenseman Set to Join Raiders this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- Michael Mucci, a defenseman for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to Rivier University for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Westford, MA came to the Wizards for his final season of junior hockey, and he tallied five points in 19 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"I am so proud of Mucci and everything he fought through this season," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "He suffered an injury that kept him out for almost three months, but that didn't slow him down. Mucci found a way to keep working, and ultimately got rewarded with this commitment."

With his commitment, the EHL total hits double digits with regards to the number of players who will be working to help Rivier launch their program this upcoming fall. Mucci is excited about the prospect of playing for a team in their inaugural season, and is also beyond grateful to the Wizards for helping him reach this goal.

"I’d like to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout my hockey career; I couldn’t have done it without them," said Mucci. "Thank you to the Wizards program, as they helped me immensely with the growth of my game and gaining confidence as a hockey player. They’ve helped me grow as a person as well."

While Mucci and his teammates saw their season cut shorter than they had hoped, they still have a lot to be proud of with what they accomplished in such a challenging year.
