Seahawks Defenseman Set to Join Purple Knights this Fall

SOUTH DENNIS, MA -- David Ciancio, a defenseman for the Seahawks Hockey Club, has committed to Saint Michael's College for the fall of 2021.

The '01 native of Scituate, RI joined the Seahawks in mid-November of this past season, and in 27 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Ciancio notched 10 points to his name.

"David did a great job this season battling some adversity and becoming a reliable player, day in and day out," said Seahawks head coach and general manager Bill Zaniboni. "David became an assistant captain for the Seahawks this year, and his drive, determination, and accountability are attributes that we know will make him successful at the collegiate level."

Speaking of the collegiate level, when Ciancio arrives this fall, he will be part of an incoming freshmen class that includes three other players from across the EHL. While Ciancio will be joined by his 2020-21 teammate in Jack Macdonald, the group also includes Jack Bavis of the Valley Jr Warriors, and Gabriel Jodoin, who spent time this season with the New England Wolves and the New Hampshire Avalanche.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join Saint Michael's hockey program," said Ciancio. "Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and family for all that they have done to get me to this point. I cannot wait to get to Vermont this fall and get to work! I will definitely take all the lessons I have learned on and off the ice during my time at Millbrook and playing for the Seahawks with me."
