2020-21 EHL Rookie of the Year Selected in USHL Draft

BOSTON, MA -- We're just about two months removed from the conclusion of the 2020-21 season for the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), a year that ended with the Boston Jr Rangers winning their first championship.

One of the many key contributors for the Rangers was Andy Moore, an '02 forward from Cumberland, ME. After posting 56 points in 46 total games, Moore was unanimously named the league's Rookie of the Year for this past season. The accolade was one of many reasons that Moore was selected by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in Phase II of United States Hockey League (USHL) Draft on Thursday.

"We're so excited for Andy to got drafted into the USHL," said Rangers head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "He played a huge role for our team last year, and never showed any signs that it was only his first season of junior hockey. I'm looking forward to watching him continue to develop as he climbs the USA Hockey ladder to the next level."

While breaking down the strong year of production that Moore put together, there are a few numbers that jump out above the rest. The talented scorer owned the clutch gene for his team, tallying 10 game-winning goals combined between the regular season and postseason. Along with that, Moore produced when his team needed it the most, racking up nine points in eight postseason games.

Moore will now look to follow the path of a pair of previous EHL award winners that advanced on to the USHL. Back at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, Eduards Tralmaks was named the league's Most Valuable Player, while Cayden Primeau took home both honors for Goalie of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Each player then spent a season apiece in the USHL, before advancing onto the NCAA Division I level. Both players moved on to schools in the Hockey East Association. Tralmaks played his college hockey at the University of Maine, while Primeau owned the net for Northeastern University.

Moore (Cumberland, ME) didn't show any signs of being just a rookie this past season, tallying 56 total points combined between the regular season and postseason.
