Avalanche Forward Set to Join Eagles Next Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- David Rankin, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Post University for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Youngstown, OH came to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of junior hockey, and he's notched an assist to his credit in four total games to date.

"Rankin has been a competitor for us since he arrived in New Hampshire," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He has worked very hard at continuing to improve every day and sets an example of how to be a good teammate. We are very proud of his commitment to Post University and we look forward to helping him continue with his development as he prepares for his collegiate future, both on and off the ice."

As the Avalanche program closes in on 75 NCAA Commitments since joining the EHL in 2017, Rankin goes in the books as the first player in program history to advance onto Post. Playing out of the Northeast 10 (NE-10), the Eagles are part of the seven-team NCAA Division II Conference.

"I am very excited to be joining a great school and program at Post University, both on the ice and in the classroom," said Rankin. "I would like to thank the New Hampshire Avalanche organization, coaches, and teammates for making this opportunity possible for me."

Rankin the Avalanche return to the ice following the All-Star break with a matchup scheduled against the New England Wolves on Wednesday at 1:40 pm.
