More Accolades for NCAA Alumni, Plus a Former Netminder Serves as the EBUG in an NHL Game

BOSTON, MA -- The accolades keep rolling in throughout the NCAA ranks for alumni from both the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

National Hockey League (NHL)

Last night, Kyle Konin, an alumni of the Vermont Lumberjacks and the New Hampshire Avalanche, stepped in as the Emergency Backup Goaltender (EBUG) for the St. Louis Blues as they faced-off with the Tampa Bay Lighting in Tampa Bay, FL. Konin, a '98 native of West Kingston, RI, spent just a single season in the EHL (2018-19), winning 18 total games combined between the regular season and the postseason.

Quote from NHL.com -- "I'm definitely excited, I don't think I've gotten settled down," Konin told stlouisblues.com. "I came home (from today's skate), I've been airing out my gear and then I'm turning right back around to go to the rink. It's really cool, it's what you dream of as a kid every day. For one night at least, I get to live (being in the NHL) with my family and friends. My close family is going to buy tickets and come to the game. It almost feels like how you see on TV when someone makes their NHL debut and their whole family goes to the game, that's kind of what this is feeling like right now."
