Wizards Defenseman Set to Join Golden Wolves Next Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- CJ Boyd, a defenseman for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to Alvernia University for the fall of 2022.

The '02 native of Downingtown, PA is in his 2nd season with the Wizards, and in 66 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Boyd has tallied 14 total points to his credit.

“CJ’s been the backbone of our defensive corps for two years now," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "He’s one of the hardest workers in the league."

Alvernia University is located in Reading, PA, and the Golden Wolves will enter their first season competing at the NCAA Division III level in the fall of 2022. Next fall, the Golden Wolves are slated to join the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), one of the most competitive conferences in all of NCAA Division III hockey.

Despite being a 2002 birth year and having a year of junior hockey eligibility remaining after this season, Boyd feels confident with his decision to go to school next year. The defensive defenseman is looking forward to helping a program close to home get things started next fall.

“Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for being behind me every step of the journey,” said Boyd. "I'm looking forward to going to college close to home, and helping Alvernia kick-off their season on the right foot next fall. Go Golden Wolves!"
