Lapsa's Hat-Trick Headlines Star Honors From Exeter Showcase

BOSTON, MA -- In the blink of an eye, the 5th and final showcase of the season has come and gone in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Below you'll find the 16th set of weekly top performers in the #EShow. The forward and defensemen awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie honors come courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #16

The EHL is pleased to announce that Jonathan Lapsa (Valley Jr Warriors), Tyler Anastasi (Railers Jr Hockey Club), and Jeremy Connor (New Jersey 87s) have been named the Top Performers for Week #16.

Kicking things off with the forward position in the EHL, and it was a solid holiday weekend for Lapsa and the Warriors. After being held off the scoresheet in a 5-4 loss to the Seahawks Hockey Club last Thursday, the '02 native of Knoxville, TN made up for that performance with a tremendous showing at the 5th and final league-wide event of the season.

First on Sunday, Lapsa scored all three of his team's goals, as Valley knocked off Team Maryland by the final score of 3-2. Fast-forward to Monday, and Lapsa was able to add another goal plus an assist to his weekend totals, as the Warriors earned a 3-1 victory over the Walpole Express. The Warriors have now won four out of their last five games as they continue to battle for position in the East Division standings.

Moving back to the blue line, and sticking with the '02 birth year, Anastasi and the Railers may have only won one of their three games, but the talented defenseman continued on his recent tear. The veteran defenseman added four more points to his season totals, giving him 24 points in 28 total games to date, and six points in his last nine contests.

Anastasi and the Railers continue to set the pace in the Central Division, sporting a 14-point lead over the 2nd-place Connecticut Chiefs.

Speaking of 1st-place teams, no program is hotter right now than the top dogs in the South Division. Connor and the 87's have won 14 straight games, including four total victories in the past week. The '01 native of Hazlet, NJ was in net for three of those wins, improving his record up to 11-6-0 for the season.

The EHLP grad also owns a 2.33 GAA and a .923 save percentage, as he continues to put together a rock-solid age-out campaign. Looking forward, Connor and the 87's are currently tied for the 5th longest winning streak in league history, and they will look to change that to a tie for 4th longest when they travel to take on the Connecticut RoughRiders on Thursday.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #16

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Max Morris (Boston Jr Rangers), Emmerson Mitchell (Vermont Lumberjacks), and Nick Maringola (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the Top Performers for Week #16.

Morris and the Rangers dropped their first contest of the week to the Valley Jr Warriors last Wednesday, but then rebounded with victories over the Connecticut Chiefs and the Seahawks Hockey Club at the showcase. As for the '03 native of Lakeland, FL, Morris was held off the scoresheet against Valley, but then his week took off from there.

In his first game on Saturday against the Chiefs, Morris scored a pair of goals including the game-winner, plus in an assist, as Boston skated to a 4-2 victory. Later that night, Morris was named the MVP of the 1st Annual EHLP All-Star Game when he netted a hat-trick for Team White.

Then, fast-forward to Sunday, Morris was able to add another goal to his season totals, giving him 33 points in 29 total games to date. Morris and the Rangers are jockeying with the Railers Jr Hockey Club for the top spot in the East Division standings, with a huge matchup coming up this Saturday night in Tewksbury, MA.

It was a perfect weekend for Mitchell and the Lumberjacks, as they knocked off the New Jersey Renegades on Saturday and Sunday, and then picked up a victory over the New England Wolves on Monday. As for the '02 native of Ithaca, NY, Mitchell tallied three total points over the course of the weekend, giving him 14 total in 27 total games to date.

Currently Vermont sits in tie for 2nd place in the North Division with the Avalanche, and the two rivals have a huge matchup scheduled for this Thursday in Hooksett, NH.

Wrapping things up with New Hampshire, Maringola and the Avalanche posted a record of 2-0-1 in their three games this past week, with the '02 native of Cheshire, CT getting the start against Valley on Saturday. Maringola's 30-save performance paved the way to his 6th victory of the season and 13th career win throughout his time in the EHLP.

Looking forward after the showdown with Vermont on Thursday, Maringola and the Avalanche will travel to take on the Walpole Express on Saturday and the Seahawks on Sunday.
