Maryland All-Star Forward Set to Join Golden Wolves this Fall

ODENTON, MD -- Bobby Geier, a forward for Team Maryland, has committed to Alvernia University for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Currituck, NC is in his 3rd season with Maryland, and in 123 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Geier finds himself just nine points away from the 100-point plateau for his career in the league.

"Bobby is an outstanding young man and his commitment is well deserved," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "It's a great opportunity and something that can never be taken away from you, getting to say you were on the first team in program history and thats something that he is very excited about and we are too. Bobby is highly-skilled and has learned over the past few years how to keep moving forward with his game. His attitude, his composure, and his drive, is something you want and something that is contagious throughout a lineup. He came here to TM my first year, so this commitment is  pretty special, and we can't thank Bobby enough for his dedication and loyalty to our program. He models everything we want in our players. We are very excited and proud of Bobby and look forward to watching his success over the next 4 years."

As Fusco mentioned, Geier will be helping to launch a new team in the fall. Alvernia University is located in Reading, PA, and the Golden Wolves will enter their first season competing at the NCAA Division III level in the fall of 2022. The Golden Wolves are slated to join the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), one of the most competitive conferences in all of NCAA Division III hockey.

"I’m super excited about this opportunity to go to Alvernia," said Geier. "I can’t wait to play college hockey there for what’s going to be a good program and under a tremendous coaching staff. Spending the last three years in Maryland under Coach Fusco and in the EHL has developed me and prepared me for college hockey. I also want to thank my family, friends, and teammates for helping me get to where I am today."

In his final season of junior hockey, Geier earned an All-Star Selection back in October, picking up the opening goal in Team EHL's exhibition game against UMass Boston. That moment caught the attention of Alvernia, and as they say from there, 'the rest is history'.
