Rangers Defenseman Set to Join Rams this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Adam McNabney, a defenseman for the Boston Jr Rangers, has committed to Suffolk University for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Baltimore, MD came to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his first and only year of junior hockey, and through 30 games with the Rangers, McNabney has tallied seven total points to his credit.

"Adam is a solid defenseman that’s hard to play against," said Rangers head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. “Adam has worked really hard both on and off the ice to earn his opportunity to play hockey and get an education at Suffolk University. We are looking forward to being able to see him play college hockey close to us.”

McNabney is one of two EHL players that have committed to Suffolk so far this season, as he will became teammates with Joe Idelson of the East Coast Wizards this fall. The sturdy defenseman is excited about his decision, and feels confident that he made the perfect choose for his next step in life, both athletically and academically.

“Suffolk has always been on my radar for their ideal location mixed with their very strong academic programs,” said McNabney. “I want to thank all of my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has helped me along the way. Thank you to Coach [Chris] Glionna and Coach [John] Burgess for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to the next four years in a Rams uniform.”

McNabney went on to talk about the path that brought him to the Rangers, and how fortunate he feels that it all led to this moment.

“Coming out of high school, I definitely was not ready to go to college,” added McNabney. “Since coming to BJR, I have matured immensely and learned valuable life lessons from the coaching staff and my teammates. There have been a lot of bumps in the road throughout my recruiting process, but as long as you stay committed to your goals you are capable of achieving anything you put your mind to.”
