Wolves All-Star Forward Set to Join Corsairs this Fall

LACONIA, NH -- Kevin Johnston, a forward for the New England Wolves, has committed to UMass Dartmouth (UMD) for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Mahwah, NJ chose the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of junior hockey, and he proved his reliability throughout the year, dressing in all 46 regular season games for the Wolves.

"Kevin is an offensive forward with great finishing ability," said Wolves head coach Tim Kunes. "He’s got a great shot which will translate well to the NCAA level. We're happy to have helped him on his path to college hockey."

As mentioned above, Johnston was a constant in the Wolves' lineup throughout the regular season. That reliability, along with his point production (18 goals, 19 assists), was a big reason why Johnston was selected to participate in the 1st Annual EHL All-Star Classic (ASC) back in November. It's then safe to say that his five points in four games at the ASC caught the attention of UMD, and from there, the rest was history.

Overall, Johnston is the 35th player in league history to choose the Corsairs' hockey program, and 2nd from the current 2021-22 season. This fall, Johnston will team up with another player that participated in the ASC, Alex Newton from Team Maryland.

However, with this weight now off of his shoulders, Johnston will focus first on leading the Wolves on what they hope will be a deep playoff run. That journey begins with a matchup against the Vermont Lumberjacks in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs.
