Aalto Commits to UMass Dartmouth

Wizards Goaltender Set to Join Corsairs this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- John (Pat) Aalto, a goaltender for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to UMass Dartmouth (UMD) for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Barnstable, MA recently finished his 2nd and final season with the Wizards, and over the course of his time in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Aalto racked up 13 total wins to his name.

“We could not be more excited for Pat," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "He put so much time in, both on and off the ice; we’re really excited that it has paid off for him. He has matured so much throughout his time with the Wizards. UMD is getting a great kid and a great goalie.”

Overall, Aalto becomes the 38th player in league history to choose UMD. In regards to specifically just this season, Aalto is one of five EHL players heading off to join the Corsairs this fall. It's also worth noting that the five incoming freshmen come from five different EHL teams, as Aalto will meet up with Marshall McKallip from the Connecticut ChiefsKevin Johnston from the New England WolvesAlex Newton from Team Maryland, and Brandon Clark from the Vermont Lumberjacks.

"I would like to thank my family, teammates, friends, and coaches who have helped me achieve my lifelong goal of playing college hockey," said Aalto. "I am really proud and excited to be a part of the UMass Dartmouth community and hockey program."
