Express Defenseman Set to Join Purple Knights this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Ashton Allain, a defenseman for the Walpole Express, has committed to Saint Michael's College for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Brentwood, TN recently finished his 2nd and final season with the Express. Combined between time spent in both the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHL), the defensive defenseman collected 12 points in 65 total games throughout his junior hockey career.

“Ashton grew a lot in his two seasons in Walpole,” said Express head coach Josh Holmstrom. “Coming off an injury last year, where he did not see much game time, he wanted to focus on developing every single day. He did a great job all season long of living in the moment and working on his game. Ashton is going to continue to get better and I am very excited to see his progress at the next level."

Allain is one of four players heading off to Saint Michael's from the EHL this fall, as he will team up with Matthew Tauriainen from the Valley Jr Warriors, and both Nico Giannetti and Jake Leale from the Connecticut RoughRiders.

“I was looking for a school that felt like a home," said Allain. "When I went on my visit, the staff and team made the entire experience very welcoming. I am excited to join a competitive program that is looking to build and get better.”

Allain went on to talk about his time in Walpole with the Express, and how this period of his life ultimately led to this moment.

“I really enjoyed my two years in Walpole," said Allain. "It really helped me grow as a person and as a hockey player. There was never a day that went by that I didn’t enjoy Walpole. I will never forget my time there.”
