Little Flyers All-Star Defenseman Set to Join Raiders this Fall

ASTON, PA -- Avery Arnold, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, has committed to Rivier University for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Camp Hill, PA recently finished his second and final season with the Little Flyers, and over the course of 92 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Arnold tallied 32 total points to his credit.

"We're all very proud of Avery on his NCAA Commitment to Rivier University," said Little Flyers head coach and general manager Mark Catron. "Avery was a two-year staple for us on the back end, and an iron man this season, not missing a game in the most competitive division in the EHL. The work that Avery puts in on the ice and in the weight room is second to none.  I can’t say enough good things about the mature and respectable young man that Avery is; I’m looking forward to seeing him progress over the next four seasons at Rivier."

As Catron mentioned, Arnold played in all 52 games for the Little Flyers this season, combined between the regular season and the postseason. He now sets off for Nashua, NH this fall, where he will be joined by three other players from around the EHL. Alongside his teammate Sebastian Rominiecki, Arnold will join up with Ryan Davis of the Connecticut Chiefs, and Billy Hartnett of the Valley Jr Warriors.

"I am honored and blessed to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at Rivier University," said Arnold. "I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting me throughout my entire career.  Without the support of my loved ones, none of this would be possible.  I also want to show appreciation to all my teammates and coaches who have molded me into the player I am today.  I would like to thank the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization for allowing me to compete with teammates who ended up becoming family.  I especially want to thank Coach [Matt] Keating for giving me the opportunity to become a NCAA Student-Athlete. I am very excited to start this next chapter of my life."

While the 2021-22 season ended sooner than Arnold and his teammates would have hoped, the veteran defenseman can still look back and be proud of helping his team reach the EHL Frozen Finals as well as earning a spot on the EHL College Series All-Star Team back in October.
