RoughRiders All-Star Forward Set to Join Pilgrims this Fall

NORWALK, CT -- Lucas Baksay, a forward for the Connecticut RoughRiders, has committed to New England College (NEC) for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Fairfield, CT recently finished his third and final season with the RoughRiders, and over the course of 109 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Baksay tallied 89 total points to his credit.

"Lucas is a very skilled, good skater and possession player, with good hockey sense and playmaking qualities," said RoughRiders head coach and general manager Eric Lind. "He was limited to 26 games this season because of an ankle injury, but would have hit the ceiling if he played all 46 regular season EHL games. Lucas is just another example of our developmental model of building NCAA level players.”

As Lind mentioned, Baksay missed a good chunk of the 2021-22 season due to an injury, but that didn't stop him from catching the attention of NEC. No doubt, Baksay's point production and his performance at the 2021 EHL All-Star Classic helped set himself apart.

Overall, the veteran forward is one of two players heading off to join the Pilgrims this fall, as he will team up with Graham Hassan of the New Hampshire Avalanche when he arrives on campus.
