Little Flyers Forward Set to Join Corsairs this Fall

ASTON, PA -- Vincent Nicosia, a forward for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, has committed to UMass Dartmouth (UMD) for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of West Bloomfield, MI recently finished his second and final season with the Little Flyers, and in 81 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Nicosia tallied 69 total points by scoring 30 goals to go along with 39 assists.

“We’re all very proud of Vinny and his commitment to UMass Dartmouth; that was the top school on his list, and he put the work in to make it happen," said Little Flyers head coach and general manager Mark Catron. "Vinny earned a much larger role this season, playing in all aspects of the game and being one of our Assistant Captains. He really stepped his game up.  I’m excited for Vinny and this opportunity to play for Coach [Erik] Noack and the Corsairs."

Nicosia adds his name to what has become a very strong incoming freshmen class at UMD. This fall, Nicosia will join up with  John (Pat) Aalto from the East Coast WizardsBrandon Clark from the Vermont LumberjacksKevin Johnston from the New England WolvesMarshall McKallip from the Connecticut ChiefsAlex Newton from Team Maryland, and James Mettler and Matthew Zdanowicz from the New Jersey 87s. Collectively, this group forms one of the strongest class of commitments that the league has ever produced.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to UMass Dartmouth," said Nicosia. "I’d like to thank my parents for doing everything possible to push me to this point in my career. I’d also like to thank all of my former teammates and coaches for being a huge part of my life and my hockey journey. Thank you to the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization along with Coach Catron and Anthony Lorusso for all the opportunities they created for me during my time with the Flyers. To my teammates, thank you for being my family and making my time in junior hockey so special. Thank you to Coach Noack and Coach [Jeremiah] Ketts for giving me the opportunity to be an NCAA Student-Athlete. I couldn’t be more excited for the next four years as a Corsair!"

While this season didn't end the way that Nicosia and his teammates had hoped, he can still be very proud of earning this commitment, as well as helping the Little Flyers get back to the EHL Frozen Finals for the first time since 2019.
