Spartans All-Star Defenseman Set to Join Owls this Fall

EXETER, NH -- Danny Finegan, a defenseman for the Seacoast Spartans, has committed to Westfield State University (WSU) for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native Chicago, IL recently finished his first and only season with the Spartans, and in 46 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games), Finegan tallied 30 total points to his credit.

"I am excited to see Danny continue his playing career at Westfield State," said Spartans head coach and general manager Brett Tryder. "He plays a physical game at 6′ 2″, 190 pounds, and makes good decisions with the puck. His game will transfer nicely to the MASCAC. I feel great about Danny’s fit at Westfield. I believe that he will be a top player for them right away. I can’t wait to see him play at the collegiate level!”

Finegan adds his name to a growing list of players that will be heading off to WSU this fall, as the class of incoming freshmen includes seven other players from around the EHL.

This fall, alongside his 2021-22 teammates Cooper Board and Danny Finegan, the trio of Spartans will team up with Julian Boisclair and Tomas Muller from the Boston Jr RangersNicolas Coppola from the New Hampshire Avalanche, and Ryan Moorhouse and Colin Roe from the Railers Jr Hockey Club.

“I’m very excited to attend Westfield State and continue my academic career and pursue my dream of playing college hockey,” said Finegan. “Seacoast was a great place and an amazing organization to be a part of and I’m thankful to play for such great coaches. Coach Tryder was very helpful this season and provided me with a lot of tools to add to my game to compete at the collegiate level.”
