Former Lumberjacks Coach and GM Takes Over Division III Program in the NCHA

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) are pleased to announce that Jim Mosso, the former Head Coach and General Manager of the Vermont Lumberjacks, has been named the new Head Coach at Concordia Wisconsin in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).

Mosso served as the General Manager for the Lumberjacks' program for six seasons, spanning from 2015 to 2021. From 2015-2018 (three seasons), Mosso was the Head Coach for the Lumberjacks' EHLP team, and he was named the EHLP Coach of the Year on two consecutive occasions (2015-16 and 2016-17).

Halfway through the 2017-18 campaign, while in his 3rd year leading the EHLP team, Mosso took over things at the EHL level as well. Mosso then remained in charge of Vermont's top team through March of 2021 (three seasons).

Following 2020-21 campaign, in which Mosso helped lead both Lumberjacks' teams to the Frozen Finals for the first time in franchise history, he made his jump to the collegiate ranks.

Mosso spent this past season serving as the Associate Head Coach for the University of New England (UNE). The Nor'Easters established themselves as one of the top teams all of NCAA Division III hockey, and this was proven by winning 2021-22 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title and then completing a tournament run that took the program all the way to the Frozen Four in Lake Placid, NY.

Mosso is beyond grateful for everything he gained throughout this past season UNE, as he know feels that much more prepared for the next step in his climb.

"I am very eager to begin my collegiate head coaching career with Concordia University in Wisconsin," said Mosso. "I was very fortunate to get to work with Kevin Swallow at UNE and to learn the intricacies of what it takes to be successful at this level. He is one of the best there is, and I believe our accomplishments as a team helped me solidify this opportunity."

Mosso went on to talk about the EHL, and how he is looking forward to committing more players from the league, starting this fall.

"I will be weighing heavily on the experiences I had during my time in the Eastern Hockey League with the Vermont Lumberjacks," added Mosso. "I was put to the task of 2 total team rebuilds and to establish a new culture. This has given me complete confidence and a plan to do the same with Concordia. We have 6 returning players and 23 incoming freshmen, but that reminds me an awful lot of my last year in Vermont with the team that won the conference and made it to the Frozen Finals. I would again like to thank Mr. Lary, Linda Williams, and the Rosales family for giving me the opportunity to learn and develop as a Head Coach and GM. I would not be where I am without it. I would also like to thank Coach [Chris] Cerrella and Coach [Mike] Addesa for continuing to be my mentors in hockey, and I look forward to recruiting the EHL as my bread and butter for the years to come."

The #EShow would like to congratulate Coach Mosso on this latest climb in his journey, proving that both players and coaches can work their way up from the EHLP, to the EHL, and to the NCAA.
