Huge Weekend for Hotchkiss Headlines Star Performances

BOSTON, MA -- The temperatures are dropping, and with two showcases officially in the books, the battles will only be getting tighter in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Below you'll find the 9th set of weekly top performers for the 2022-23 season. The forward and defensemen awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie honors come courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #9

The EHL is pleased to announce that Aden Hotchkiss (New Hampshire Avalanche), Adam Jubran (Seahawks Hockey Club), and Matt Gover (East Coast Wizards) have been named the Top Performers for Week #9.

Hotchkiss and the Avalanche swept their schedule this past week including all three of their games at the November Showcase, improving their record up to 15-3-1 for the season. As for the '02 native of Palm Coast, FL, the Captain of the Avalanche simply went off, tallying 10 total points with six goals and four assists. Included in his tallies was the game-winning goal against the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Saturday, as Hotchkiss now leads the league with 32 total points to his credit.

The veteran playmaker committed to Plymouth State this past season, and since making that decision for the fall of 2023, he's been able to play 'stress-free hockey' and only worry about his development between now and next fall. It's safe to say that the development is going well, as Hotchkiss is on a great pace to set career highs in his final year of juniors. Hotchkiss and the Avalanche hit the ice this afternoon at 12:30 pm against the New England Wolves, for the team's final game before a short break for Thanksgiving.

Back on the blue line, Jubran and the Seahawks also swept their weekend set of games, earning victories over the Vermont Lumberjacks, Connecticut RoughRiders, and New York Apple Core. As for the '02 native of Cortland, NY, Jubran claimed his 2nd Defenseman of the Week award after racking four assists over the course of the weekend. Overall, the EHL All-Star now has an even 20 points in 19 total games to date.

Coming up this week, Jubran and the Seahawks host the Valley Jr. Warriors for a pair of games on Wednesday and Thursday in the team's final two contests before their annual matchup with the Express Hockey Club on Thanksgiving Day.

Wrapping things up, and keeping with the trend of returning players and teams that swept their weekend set of games, Gover and the Wizards fit the bill. East Coast picked up victories over Team Maryland, the New Jersey 87's and the Connecticut Chiefs at the November Showcase, with the '02 native of Atkinson, NH getting the nod for the pair of wins over the teams from the South Division (Maryland and 87's). In Gover's pair of starts he turned aside 59 of the 62 shots that he faced, improving his record up to 6-5-3 for the season, to go along with a 2.92 GAA and a .922 save percentage.

The perfect weekend kept the Wizards right in line with the Seahawks, as the top four teams in the East Division are currently separated by just four total points between 1st and 4th place. Gover and Wizards have a huge matchup against one of those teams on Thursday, as they host the Boston Jr. Rangers at 11:00 am.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #9

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Sean Lane (Valley Jr. Warriors), Tyler Branish (New Jersey 87's), and Kian Hodgins (Adirondack Jr. Thunder) have been named the Top Performers for Week #9.

Lane and the Warriors swept their weekend set of games, improving their overall record up to 9-6-3 for the year. As for the '03 native of Tewksbury, MA, Lane led the way offensively by tallying six total points throughout the weekend, including the game-winning goals against the Union Jr. Thunder on Friday and Adirondack on Saturday.

For the season, Lane now has an even nine goals and nine assists in 17 total games to date, and he'll hit the ice next tomorrow morning and Thursday morning, as both EHL and EHLP teams for the Warriors will be heading down to the Cape for a pair of matchups apiece against the Seahawks Hockey Club.

Branish and the 87's swept their weekend home-and-home series with the New Jersey Renegades, stretching their winning streak out to five total games and improving their overall record up to 11-2-3 for the season. As for the '04 native of Denver, CO, Branish tallied three total points to his credit over the weekend, increasing his season total up to eight for the year.

Coming up this weekend, Branish and the 87's hit the road for a pair of road games as they travel north to take on the Connecticut Chiefs on Saturday night and then head west to take on the Pennsylvania Huntsmen on Sunday afternoon. The Huntsmen currently hold a one-point lead over the 87's for the top spot in the South Division standings, and they were the last team to knock off New Jersey back on October 23rd.

Despite their overtime loss at the hands of Lane and the Warriors on Saturday, Hodgins and the Thunder posted a record of 2-0-1 over the course of their three games at the November Showcase. As for the '05 native of Canada, Hodgins got the nod between the pipes for all three games, and collected nearly 100 saves to his credit (96 total), while improving his record up to 7-1-5 for the season. To go along with the stellar mark, Hodgins also owns a 3.46 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

The five-point weekend for Adirondack keeps them right in the thick of things in the New England Division. Their 8-3-5 record is good for 21 total points, locking them into 3rd place, two points ahead of 4th and two points behind 2nd. Coming up this weekend, Hodgins and the Thunder are in search of revenge, as to travel up to to Burlington, VT for a pair of games with the Lumberjacks. Adirondack began the season against Vermont, dropping a pair of contests by scores of 6-2 and 5-4 back in mid-September.
