RoughRiders Veteran Defenseman Set to Join Trailblazers Next Fall

NORWALK, CT -- Walter Brown V, a defenseman for the Connecticut RoughRiders, has committed to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Galloway, NJ began his junior hockey career with the RoughRiders when he was just 16 years old. Fast-forward just over three years later and the defensive defenseman has played in 124 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), combined between the regular season and the postseason. Overall, Brown V has tallied 16 total points from the blue line.

“Walter has developed tremendously since arriving here as a sixteen-year-old," said RoughRiders head coach and general manager Eric Lind. "He is extremely versatile on the ice and is gifted with the ability to play in both defensive and offensive positions. Walter is a smooth skater with excellent edge control and can set the tempo in game. He will be a great asset in the college game for MCLA."

Brown is actually one of two RoughRiders players that have chosen MCLA so far this season, as he will remain teammates with fellow defenseman Christian Nawrocki when he arrives on campus next fall.

Brown and the RoughRiders are one game away from the halfway point of their 2022-23 season, as they continue to battle for playoff positioning in the Central Division.

Connecticut will hit the ice tomorrow at 11;30 am against the New York Apple Core, in the team's first of five matchups between now and the start of the holiday break.
