Maryland Defenseman Set to Join Roos for 2nd Half of 2022-23 Season

ODENTON, MD -- Scott Cremen, a defenseman for Team Maryland, has committed to SUNY Canton for the 2nd half of the 2022-23 season.

The '02 native of Arnold, MD re-joined Team Maryland in late October, and through 12 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games to date, Cremen has notched five assists to his name. Cremen's return to his home state was a reunion due to a pair of games he played for Team Maryland back in the 2020-21 season. Overall, Josh Fusco is beyond glad that Cremen returned for one last stint before heading off to college.

"Scott is an outstanding kid, his work ethic is unmatched and he truly loves the game, he plays and acts at a high level day in and day out and wants to keep going," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "I was extremely happy to have Scott come back home and earn a commitment. He has brought leadership to our room and with winning a major junior hockey championship last year he has brought that knowledge and will to win to the room. Good luck Scotty! I'm very proud of you and can’t wait to continue to watch you succeed at the next level."

As Fusco mentioned, Cremen has a junior hockey championship on his resume, as he was a member of last year's New Jersey Titans team that won it all in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

Overall, Cremen is the 19th player in league history to choose SUNY Canton, and first to head to the school in the middle of his age-out season of junior hockey. While Cremen is disappointed about not finishing things out with his teammates in Maryland, he's also beyond grateful for the opportunity.

"I am very excited to join SUNY Canton this January to play for Coach [Alex] Boak and the ‘Roos," said Cremen. "I am thankful to Coach Fusco and my teammates at Team Maryland who welcomed me to their team this season. My time in Maryland has been a huge part of my development and building of confidence."

Cremen will look to put one final bow on his time with Team Maryland as they hit the ice for six more games leading up to the holiday break, including matchups against the Seahawks Hockey Club, New Hampshire Avalanche, and Express Hockey Club at next week's showcase in Newington, CT.
