#EShow Releases Fourth Set of Monthly Honors for 2022-23 Season

BOSTON, MA -- Another month in the books, as we get set to jump into 2023 in both the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Below you'll find the 4th set of monthly award winners in the #EShow. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie recognition comes courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHL is pleased to announce that Drew Olivieri (Seacoast Spartans), Cody Plaza (New England Wolves), and Jack Boschert (Express Hockey Club) have been named the December Stars of the Month.

Olivieri and the Spartans were busy in the final month of the calendar year, hitting the ice for eight total games over a 19-day stretch. As for the '02 native of Swampscott, MA, Olivieri led all forwards in the EHL by tallying 12 points to his credit throughout the month. For the season, Olivieri now has 42 points through 26 total games to date, and he heads into the New Year riding a 12-game point streak.

Coming out of the break in January, the 19-6-2 Spartans currently sit in 2nd place in the North Division, with 19 games remaining on their regular season schedule. Seacoast will look to continue to lean on Olivieri, as he plays alongside William Pray and Kenny Maxwell, making up arguably the most prolific line in the league.

Moving back to the blue line and sticking with the North Division, Plaza and the Wolves endured an up-and-down month of December, finishing with a record of 3-5-0 over the course of their eight games. As for the '03 native of Danvers, MA, Plaza was rock-solid on the back end for his team defensively, but also chipped in with six points offensively. For the season, Plaza now has 17 points through 30 total games to date.

With this award, the Wolves have now claimed two of the first four monthly honors for top defenseman, as Nick Demio earned the same recognition back in September. As for what lies ahead for the Wolves. New England will begin 2023 in 3rd place in their division, as the four teams currently make up four of the top five overall records in the league. Plaza will look to keep the momentum rolling, as the Wolves battle for playoff positioning throughout their final 16 games of the regular season.

Wrapping things up in goal, and it should come as no surprise that last week's top netminder is also the top goalie of the month in the EHL. Boschert was virtually unbeatable while winning five of his six total starts, amassing a 1.17 GAA and a .958 save percentage along the way. For the season he's now 11-6-0, and he's got the Express playing their best hockey as we turn the calendar over.

This past March is when Boschert took control of the net for the Express, leading the team to their first-ever EHL Frozen Finals and EHL Championship Game appearances. The '02 native of Missouri will look to be the anchor for his team once again, as the EHL churns towards the postseason and the road to Providence.

EHLP STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Zach Needham (New Hampshire Avalanche), Jack Foote (New Jersey 87's), and Nick Giuliano (Philadelphia Little Flyers) have been named the December Stars of the Month.

Similar to Boschert at the EHL level, Needham is fresh off claiming the Forward of the Week honors in the EHLP. Needham and the Avalanche were busy over the final stretch of games in 2022, hitting the ice for all four of their December matchups over a six-day stretch from the 13th through 18th. As for his offensive production, the '03 native of Bangor, ME, Needham set the pace for his team by tallying 11 total points over the four-game stretch, and closing out 2022 by notching at least a point in 11 straight contests.

For the season, Needham is putting together a great rookie campaign in junior hockey, having racked up an even 19 goals and 19 assists to his credit through the first 27 games of the year. For the season, the Avalanche are 16-10-1 and are currently battling for position in the ever-difficult New England Division. New Hampshire is one of three teams in their division with 33 points, which puts that collective group also includes the New England Wolves and Adirondack Jr. Thunder, one point behind the Vermont Lumberjacks for the top spot.

On the point, Foote and the 87's posted a record of 3-2-0 in the month of December, as they continue to jockey back-and-forth with the Pennsylvania Hunstmen for the top spot in the Mid-Atlantic Division standings. New Jersey currently has the lead by single point over Pennsylvania, with three key games in hand as well.

As for the '03 native of Shrewsbury, NJ, Foote put together a big month by tallying nine total points to his credit. For the season, the 6'1 defenseman now has 16 points through 23 total games to date, as he more than doubled his production for the year, in just five total contests.

Sticking inside the Mid-Atlantic Division, and putting a bow on things in 2022, Giuliano followed the same suit as Needham and Boschert, by claiming a Star of the Week award and then this Top Performer of Month honor. The recognition was undoubtedly as the '04 native of Ridley Park, PA went undefeated (3-0-0) in December, improving his overall record up to 5-6-1 for the season.

Coming out of the break in 2023, Giuliano and the Little Flyers will look to keep things rolling with 18 games leading up to the postseason. If the seedings remained the way they are currently controlled down south, we would have a inter-state playoff matchup between Giuliano and the Little Flyers and the Huntsmen.
