Former Jr. Flyers Assistant Returns to EHL

FLEMINGTON, NJ -- The New Jersey Bears are pleased to announce that Jason Kilcoyne has been named the team's new Head Coach and General Manager as they gear up for their inaugural season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

Back in January, Flemington Ice Arena (FIA) agreed to purchase the Protec Jr. Ducks, keeping the program located within the South Division of the EHL and changing the team name to the New Jersey Bears.

"We are very excited to bring in such a high caliber team within the Eastern Hockey League," said Michael Golembiewski, the Managing Partner of FIA, back in January. "This is an added testament of our commitment to provide hockey players an opportunity to further their hockey careers here in Hunterdon County. We can now provide our youth hockey club additional opportunities to play elite hockey and develop as far as they are willing to go.”

Tim Quinn is an additional partner at the FIA facility, and he feels equally as excited about the acquisition of the three-year program.

"This acquisition further solidifies the long-term goals Mike and I made when we purchased FIA, 8 years ago," said Quinn. "We are excited to have these skilled hockey players skate out of our barn and further implement our vision."

In just three season, the Ducks
organization was able to build a strong brand and product in the EHL, highlighted by finishing in 1st place in the South Division at the end of the 2022-23 Regular Season.

Over the course of their time in the EHL, which began back in the 2020-21 season, the Jr. Ducks have helped 21 players to date advance on to play NCAA Division III hockey.

"I am extremely excited to join an organization and a league that focuses on the advancement of student-athletes as its sole focus, day in and day out," said Kilcoyne. "Thank you to Mike, Tim, and Joe [Bucchino] for the opportunity to return to the EHL. It's great to be back!"

As Kilcoyne alluded to, this move brings things full circle for him, as he served as an Assistant Coach of the 2016-17 Philadelphia Jr. Flyers team that won that year's EHL Championship.
