Express Veteran Defenseman Climbs Ladder to NCAA Hockey

WALPOLE, MA -- Justin Beers, a defenseman for the Express Hockey Club, has committed to Anna Maria College for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Peabody, MA began his junior hockey career at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level back in the 2021-22 season with the Valley Jr. Warriors. This past season with Valley saw Beers hit the ice for 32 total games, tallying six points along the way. It's worth pointing out that Beers has matched his 2021-22 stat line to a 'T' having notched a goal and five assists to his credit so far this season, in 25 total games for the Express at the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) level.

“Justin has been awesome to coach,” said Express head coach Nick Cota. ”His character and love for the game is exactly what any team needs. I look forward to watching Justin continue his hockey career with Anna Maria.”

Beers is one of four EHL players that have committed to Anna Maria so far this season, as he will team up with Caleb Cathcart (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Kyle Charbonneau (New York Apple Core), and Sean McWhinnie (Railers Jr. Hockey Club), when he arrives on campus in the fall.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining the Anna Maria hockey program, and I’m thankful for the opportunity that Coach Cota and the Express gave me this season," said Beers. "I would also like to thank my family for supporting me and all my coaches that have helped me achieve my dream of college hockey.”

Beers at the Express are locked in a tight battle with the Boston Jr. Rangers for 1st place in the East Division Standings, with only a handful of regular season games remaining for both teams.
