Express Veteran Defenseman Set to Join Rams this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- David Hassell, a defenseman for the Express Hockey Club, has committed to Framingham State University for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Newton, NH has spent his entire junior hockey career under the #EShow umbrella, dating back to the 2019-20 season. Combining his time spent in both the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), Hassell has hit the ice for 140 career games, tallying 68 points to his credit along the way.

“When we acquired David, I knew from day one meeting him that he would be a great fit for our group," said Express head coach Nic Cota. "I’m extremely happy for him and his family, as he has the opportunity to continue his education and hockey career at Framingham State.”

As Cota mentioned, the Express traded for Hassell earlier this season, bringing him over from the New Hampshire Avalanche. Shortly following the move, Hassell made this commitment, and he's beyond excited for the next step in his journey.

“It’s a dream come true to play NCAA hockey at Framingham State University," said Hassell. "Thank you Coach Cota and the Express Hockey Club for everything you have done to help me achieve this lifelong goal of mine.”

Hassell and the Express currently hold a five-point lead over the Boston Jr. Rangers for the top spot in the East Division standings. While the Rangers own one game in hand over Hassell and the Express, it's the Express who control their own destiny down the stretch, starting this weekend with two games up in Vermont against the Lumberjacks.
