Rangers Defenseman Climbs Ladder to NCAA Hockey

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Gavin Crowley, a defenseman for the Boston Jr. Rangers, has committed to Framingham State University for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Melrose, MA is in his second season with the Rangers program and first at the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) level, after helping lead the program's Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) team to their 3rd Championship this past March.

"Gavin has grown a lot over the course of his two seasons with our program," said Rangers head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "Watching him start off in the EHLP this past year, I quickly recognized that he had the potential to add his name to the list of Rangers that have gone EHLP, to EHL, to NCAA. I look forward to following him over the next four years with Framingham State."

Crowley is one of two EHL players that have committed to the Rams' program so far this season, the other one being David Hassell from the Express Hockey Club. It's also worth pointing out that Hassell climbed the same ladder Crowley did, going from the EHLP to the EHL, and then onto NCAA hockey.

"When I first got to BJR I wasn’t sure about myself as a player, but after coming through the system of EHLP and then EHL, I have the confidence in myself to play at the next level," said Crowley.

Crowley and the Rangers are trying to chase down Hassell and the Express for the top seed in the East Division standings. Whether the Rangers can reach that spot or not, there is a feeling that no matter what, the division will come down to a matchup between the Express and Rangers once again, just like it did this past March.
