Avalanche Defenseman Set to Join Greyhounds this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Patrick McKiernan, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Assumption University for the fall of 2023.

The '03 native of Glastonbury, CT is in his first season with the Avalanche, and through 42 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games to date, McKiernan has tallied 19 points to his credit.

"I am very happy for Pat and his commitment to Assumption," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He came to us from Canterbury with a goal to play college hockey next year and he has reached that goal. I wish him and his family the best of luck, and the Hounds are very lucky to have him next season."

As Cerrella mentioned, despite being only a 2003-birth year, McKiernan wanted this current campaign to be his one and only season of junior hockey. He's accomplished that goal by adding his name to a strong class of incoming freshmen at Assumption, one which includes three other players from around the EHL.

This fall, McKiernan will team up with Nick Demio from the New England Wolves, Dan Lemanski from the Railers Jr. Hockey Club, and Callum Welch from H.C. Rhode Island.

"I’m humbled and honored to announce my commitment to Assumption University," said McKiernan. "I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and most importantly, my parents for helping me get to this level. Cant wait for the next four years. Go Hounds!"

McKiernan and the Avalanche have secured the franchise's first-ever Regular Season Championship, as the focus now shifts towards the postseason, and making a run towards the 2023 EHL Frozen Finals in Providence.
