Wolves Forward Set to Join Trailblazers this Fall

LACONIA, NH -- Jack Bortle a forward for the New England Wolves, has committed to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Granville, OH is in his second season with the Wolves program, and over the course of 70 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Bortle has tallied 17 total points to his credit.

"Jack is a player who has battled through injuries the past two seasons, but in doing so, has stayed committed to his goals while developing within our program," said Wolves general manger Andrew Trimble. "He was a key member of the team last year that made a run to the Frozen Finals, and adds a tremendous amount to the locker room and culture. I’m proud of him and all of his hard work to achieve his goal of playing college hockey next year at MCLA for Coach [Jeremiah] Ketts."

As Trimble mentioned, Bortle was a key cog on last year's Wolves' team that advanced all the way to 'Semi-Final Saturday' at the 2022 EHL Frozen Finals. Now, looking forward, Bortle will look to be a foundational piece once again, as MCLA brings back their NCAA Division III program this fall.

Bortle is one of 10 players from the EHL that have committed so far this season to the Trailblazers' hockey program. It's also important to note that the 10 committed players come from seven different teams around the league.

Bortle and the Wolves are locked into the #3 seed in the upcoming North Division Playoffs, meaning they will match up with the Seacoast Spartans in the First Round. Should they advance past that series, New England will be one step closer towards returning to Providence for the second consecutive season.
