Wizards Second-Year All-Star Goalie Joining Teammate this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- Matt Gover, a goalie for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Atkinson, NH is in his second season with the Wizards' program, and over the course of 53 career starts in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Gover has collected 21 total wins to his credit.

“As a staff, we couldn’t be happier for Matt on his commitment to play hockey and golf at MCLA," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "He’s been our backbone for the past two seasons, and we’re excited to see his dreams of being a two-sport athlete in college play out. We can’t wait to see his success continue at the next level both on off the ice.”

As Falite mentioned, Gover will become a dual-sport athlete at MCLA, competing on both the Ice Hockey and Golf teams for the Trailblazers. The EHL All-Star will enjoy the comfort of at least already knowing one of his teammates on the ice, as he will stay on the same team as Cody White, a fellow two-year Wizard who also recently chose MCLA.

“I’d like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for putting in the time and effort to help me get to where I am today,” said Gover. “I’d especially like to thank Coach Falite, my goalie coach Alec Marshall, and my parents for not only helping me grow as a hockey player, but also as a person."

Gover and the Wizards will enter the playoffs as the #4 seed in the upcoming East Division playoffs, setting up a date with the #5 Valley Jr. Warriors in the Play-In Round on Tuesday.
