Maryland All-Star Goaltender Set to Join Penmen this Fall

ODENTON, MD -- Collin Berke, a goaltender for Team Maryland, has committed to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Crofton, MD worked his way up through the Team Maryland system, developing with the program's midget teams at both the 18U and 16U levels, before playing in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Overall, in 26 career starts in the EHL, Berke owns a 12-12-2 record to go along with a 2.58 GAA and a .922 save percentage.

“Collin has been an absolute rock for our team this year and the Team Maryland family for several years," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "He has worn our logo with pride and passion and has grown into a tremendous young man and hockey player. Collin battled through some adversity early on in his junior hockey career and made a tremendous comeback. With the help of our goalie coach, Jason Wolfe, Collin has turned into a top-notch goaltender and I cant wait to see the success he will have at SNHU and beyond.”

Berke battled some injuries throughout his time with Maryland at the EHL level, but persevered in his age-out season of junior hockey. This fall, Berke joins an incoming freshmen class at SNHU that also includes three other players from around the EHL, as he will team up with Nicolas Dallaire (East Coast Wizards), Anthony Marchant (Railers Jr. Hockey Club), and Bryan McLachlan (Boston Jr. Rangers).

"I’m looking forward to the next step in my hockey career playing for Southern New Hampshire," said Berke. "I am thankful for my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who helped me along my journey.”

Berke and Team Maryland are set to hit the ice on Tuesday in the South Division Play-In Game against the Philadelphia Hockey Club. If they can get past their division rivals in that matchup, they will advance to take on the top-seed Protec Jr. Ducks in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs.
