New Program Set to Begin Play this September

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Providence Hockey Club (PRO) is pleased to announce that Jeff Perreault has been named the team's first Head Coach and General Manager ahead of their upcoming inaugural season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Providence becomes the EHL's second team in the state of Rhode Island, joining the Hockey Club of Rhode Island in the Central Division.

"The Providence Hockey Club is thrilled to be a part of the EHL," said Matt Smith, the Director of Junior Hockey for the EHL's newest franchise. "We believe our mission to help young men develop and move on to college hockey aligns with this great league. To help provide our players a great development product both on and off the ice we are thrilled to have Jeff as our first Head Coach and GM. Jeff’s passion is contagious and will provide a positive experience for all of our players."

Perreault brings with him the experience of also having coached in the league just this past season, down in Sewell, NJ, with the Philadelphia Hockey Club in the EHL's South Division.

"It's an honor to continue to have the opportunity to be a part of this league," said Perreault. "The entire Providence Hockey Club is beyond excited to provide a top-notch EHL program, and we look forward to being a top feeder organization for the NCAA level."

Perreault finished this past year with a regular season record of 20-22-4, and is looking forward to building off of what he accomplished down in Philly.

Perreault and the rest of the coaches from around the EHL and EHLP are gearing up for the upcoming 2023 EHL Combine Series, which is set to resume tomorrow afternoon at Rodman Arena in Walpole, MA.

While the event in Massachusetts is sold out, there are still spots remaining for the combine Michigan, which is schedule for May 5th and 6th. Be sure to register to secure your spot at EasternHockeyLeague.org.
