Express Defenseman Set to Join Huskies this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Adrian Jubran, a defenseman for the Express Hockey Club, has committed to the University of Southern Maine (USM) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Knoxville, TN, chose to come back to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of juniors. In 49 total games this past year, Jubran tallied 13 points on seven goals and six assists to his credit.

"Adrian was a rock for us on the back end since the day he arrived," said Express head coach Nic Cota. "I’m so happy that he was able to find a new home at Southern Maine, as I had the opportunity to play there myself. His character, work ethic, and drive for the game is fun to watch. I can’t wait to see what USM has in store for this young man.”

As Cota mentioned, following his time playing in the EHL, he too advanced on to play NCAA hockey at USM. Jubran is one of two EHL players from this past season (2022-23) that have chosen the Huskies so far, with other commit also coming from the Express. Jubran will remain teammates with Marcus Torgner when they both arrive on campus this fall.

“My time with the Express this season was one of the most memorable and fun years of my hockey career,” said Jubran. “I want to thank Coach Cota for showing me continued support as well as giving me the opportunity to be in a position to play NCAA hockey. I’d also like to thank all of my coaches, teammates, and family. I look forward to being part of the Huskies for the next four years."

Jubran and the Express fell in triple overtime against the Boston Jr. Rangers in game #3 of the East Division Finals, but despite the loss, it was a truly memorable season for the program. Along with the wins that the team collected, the Express are also closing in on 150 NCAA Commitments dating back to the inception of the EHL in 2013.
