Lumberjacks Goaltender Set to Join Valiants this Fall

BURLINGTON, VT -- William Billequey, a goaltender for the Vermont Lumberjacks, has committed to Manhattanville College for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Canada spent the past two seasons with the Lumberjacks' program, collecting 25 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) wins throughout that time.

“Will was the backbone of our team this past year," said Lumberjacks' EHL head coach Seth Gustin. "He was a huge part of our success. He was steady, reliable, and someone we could count onto manage the game. It’s been a pleasure coaching Will the last two seasons and watching him develop into the goaltender and person he is today. Being extremely driven, he had goals that he put the work in to set himself up for the success he has received. Manhattanville is getting both a great goaltender and awesome person. Best of Luck, Billy!”

Billequey becomes the 24th player in league history to choose the Valiants' program, and the 4th Lumberjack to make the decision since 2019. The veteran goaltender is following in the footsteps of Corey Popowcer, Mason Emoff, and Glynn Robitaille, who all made the same choice before him.

“Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me and helping me reach my goal of playing NCAA hockey,” said Billequey. “I am also extremely grateful for the opportunity Coach Gustin and the Lumberjacks gave me this year. I’ve really enjoyed my time in Vermont and I am excited to pursue my career at Manhattanville College."
