Newly Formatted Weekly League Honors are Here

BOSTON, MA -- For the 2023-24 season, the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Stars of the Week will be made up of one Star of the Week and one Honorable Mention per division. These honors can be awarded to any position. 

Hockey Night in Boston presents the Week #1 Top Performers.

EHL

North Division

Ben Skelton - Seacoast Spartans (G)

The EHL is pleased to announce goalie Ben Skelton as the North Division Star of the Week. The ‘03 native of Roanoke, VA was impressive in his first start of the season. He allowed just one goal in the Spartans season opening 3-1 victory over the Boston Jr. Rangers. Skelton made 47 saves and helped his team earn their first win of the season. After winning 11 games throughout the entire 2022-23 season, Skelton is off to a great start in his age-out season with Seacoast.

Honorable Mention: Bradley McMains, F, Seacoast Spartans

East Division

Cole Mitchell - Boston Jr. Terriers (D)

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Cole Mitchell as the East Division Star of the Week. Mitchell, an ’03 native of Freeport, PA was effective in his first game of the season. He tallied the game-wining goal and added an assist in the team’s 6-5 overtime comeback win over the Railers Jr. Hockey Club. The win was the first for the Boston Jr. Terriers' franchise, who made their EHL debut in this game. Next up for Mitchell and the Terriers is a weekend road trip to Vermont, as they take on the Lumberjacks this upcoming Saturday and Sunday.

Honorable Mention: Nathan Zerrener, G, East Coast Wizards

Central Division

Perry Gaudreau - H.C. Rhode Island (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Perry Gaudreau from H.C. Rhode Island. The 04’ native of Cranston, RI has had a strong start to the season tallying four goals and two assists in the team’s first two games. Gaudreau had a goal and an assist in Rhode Island’s 4-3 shootout loss to the East Coast Wizards on Friday night, but the team rebounded in a big way by beating the Vermont Lumberjacks 6-2 on Saturday, as Gaudreau led the way with a hat trick and an assist.

Honorable Mention: Vincent Lamberti, G, Connecticut RoughRiders

South Division

Carson Frye - New Jersey Bears (G)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is New Jersey Bears goalie Carson Frye, who has helped his team get off to a hot start. The Bears are off to a 2-1-0 start and Frye has been a big reason of that. The ’03 Pittsburgh, PA native was in net for each victory for his team, holding Team Maryland to two total goals while collecting 67 total saves. The Protec Jr. Ducks franchise was purchased and relocated this past off-season, and now under their new team name, the "defending" South Division Regular Season Champions are off and running.

Honorable Mention: John Manzi, F, Pennsylvania Huntsmen

EHL Premier

New England Division

Cole Davidson - Adirondack Jr. Thunder (F)

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Cole Davidson from the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as the New England Division Star of the Week. The ’05 Averill Park, NY native got off to a hot start tallying eight total points (3G, 5A) in the team’s first three games. After dropping their first game 5-4 to the New Jersey 87s on Friday night, the Jr. Thunder rebounded by taking the next two games and Davidson was a key factor. After winning the New England Division Regular Season title last year, Adirondack came flying out of the gates, in their search for revenge in 2023-24.

Honorable Mention: Kyler Leboutillier, F, Adirondack Jr. Thunder

Boston Division

Nolan Tomczyk - Railers Jr. Hockey Club (F)

The EHLP Boston Division Star of the Week for week one is forward Nolan Tomczyk from the Railers Jr. Hockey Club. The ’05 Hudson, MA native had an impressive showing in his debut with the Railers. Tomczyk tallied four total points including a hat trick in the Railers back and forth 7-6 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche. Next up for Tomczyk and the Railers is a weekday trip to Vermont, to take on the Lumberjacks tomorrow at 12:30 pm.

Honorable Mention: Warren Nguenti, F, Express Hockey Club

Mid-Atlantic Division

Cam Cherry - New Jersey Renegades (F)

The Mid-Atlantic Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Cam Cherry from the New Jersey Renegades. The ’03 native of Sparta, NJ has been a vital part in his team’s 2-0-0 start on the season. Cherry tallied both a goal and an assist in the first two games as the Renegades went on to beat the Union Jr. Thunder 6-2 on Saturday and the Philadelphia Little Flyers by a 4-1 margin on Sunday. Cherry and the Renegades will endure another home-and-home series this weekend, when they host the Little Flyers on Saturday, and then travel to take on the Pennsylvania Huntsmen on Sunday.

Honorable Mention: Jordan Dumont, G, Connecticut Chiefs
