BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) honor the top performers of the month, presented by Hockey Night in Boston.
Gavin Simopoulos - Express Hockey Club
The EHL is pleased to announce forward Gavin Simopoulos of the Express Hockey Club as a September Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Cape Elizabeth, ME has tallied 11 points (3G, 8A) in the team’s first four games. He has been a vital part of the Express’ 4-0-0 start on the season. His most notable performances so far have been a five-point game against the Bandits, where he had one goal and four assists, and a four-point game over the Connecticut RoughRiders, where he scored one goal and tallied three assists. The Express are off to a hot start and currently rank second in the East Division.
Andrew VanAntwerp - Boston Jr Terriers
The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Andrew VanAntwerp of the Boston Jr. Terriers as a September Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Petoskey, MI has been a key member of the blue line for the Boston Jr. Terriers through the team’s first six games. VanAntwerp has tallied nine points (2G, 7A) in the early going as the Terriers (a new team to the EHL) have a 3-2-1 record. VanAntwerp has recorded at least one point in five of six games and was also named a Showcase Star from last weekend’s Worcester Showcase.
Carson Frye - New Jersey Bears
The EHL is pleased to announce New Jersey Bears goalie Carson Frye as a September Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Pittsburgh, PA was lights out in his six starts. Frye posted a 5-1-0 record with just 10 goals allowed. He played a total of 344 minutes and had 1.74 GAA. The Bears are tied for first in the South Division with a 6-2-0 record overall.
Andrew Duval - Valley Jr Warriors
The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Andrew Duval from the Valley Jr. Warriors as a September Star of the Month. The ’05 native from Tewksbury, MA has been hard to take your eye off as he has posted 17 points (8G, 9A) through the Warriors first six games to lead the EHLP in scoring. Duval has two five-point games on the season including a four-goal game against the Connecticut Chiefs. Duval has recorded at least one point in every game so far and is a key reason why the Warriors are off to a 6-0-0 start. Duval was also named Star of the Week in Week #2 and was a Showcase Star in last week’s Worcester Showcase.
Drew Coady - Express Hockey Club
The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Drew Coady of the Express Hockey Club as a September Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Braintree, MA has been a key member of the blue line for the Express in the early going. In six games, Coady has tallied seven points (4G, 3A) and has at least one point in five of them. The Express are off to a solid 5-1-0 start and are only behind the undefeated Railers and Warriors in a strong Boston Division.
Aaron Donovan - Express Hockey Club
The EHLP is pleased to announce goalie the Express Hockey Club’s Aaron Donovan as a September Star of the Month. Donovan has started in three of the Express’s five wins and posts a 3-0-0 record with just two goals allowed. He has played a total of 170 minutes and has 0.71 GAA in his first three starts. He's without a doubt a key reason for the team's early success.
