College Series Standouts Take Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- Week #6 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Stars of the Week for October 16th through 23rd are presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

North Division

AJ Lackas - New England Wolves (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward AJ Lackas of the New England Wolves as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’03 native of Las Vegas, NV played on the Main All-Star team last week. Lackas played a role in both goals scored against SUNY Fredonia. He scored the first goal and assisted on the second. Though he didn’t register a point against SUNY Brockport, Lackas won nearly half of the face-offs (46%) he was lined up for. Through 10 games for the Wolves so far, Lackas has racked up 17 total points (8G, 9A). Next up, the Wolves host the New Hampshire Avalanche on Tuesday at 1:45 pm.

East Division

Bret Beale - Boston Jr Rangers (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Bret Beale of the Boston Jr. Rangers as the East Division Star of the Week. Beale, an ’03 native of Highland, MI represented the North/East All-Star team last week. Beale opened the scoring against Southern New Hampshire University last Wednesday in the EHL’s 3-2 victory. It was the third win in league history for an EHL All-Star team over an NCAA opponent. Beale has been a key part of the Boston Jr. Rangers offense with 13 points (5G, 8A). They Jr. Rangers will go for their tenth straight win Tuesday when they host the Seahawks at 11 am.

Central Division

Luke Holyfield - Connecticut Chiefs (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Luke Holyfield from the Connecticut Chiefs. The ’03 native of Cromwell, CT represented the South/Central All-Star team last week and played a key role. Holyfield scored a goal in both games, Tuesday against Stevenson University and Wednesday against Lebanon Valley College. Through the Chiefs first 10 games of the season, Holyfield has tallied 11 total points (3G, 8A). Next up, the Chiefs take on the Connecticut RoughRiders on Tuesday at 11:30 am at SoNo House.

South Division

Vadim Frolov - Team Maryland (F)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is Team Maryland forward Vadim Frolov. Frolov an ’03 native of St. Petersburg, Russia represented the South/Central All-Star team last week. Frolov scored the first EHL goal of the college series against Stevenson University on Tuesday. Frolov has nine points (5G, 4A) through nine games played for Team Maryland. Next up for Frolov and Team Maryland, a trip to play the Pennsylvania Huntsmen on the 25th at Power Play Rinks at 11:30 am.

New-England Division

Cole Davidson - Adirondack Jr Thunder (F)

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Cole Davidson from the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as the New England Division Star of the Week. The ’05 Averill Park, NY native had a hat trick in his team’s 7-4 win over the New England Wolves. He also added an assist in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Wolves. This is Davidson’s third selection as he was a Star of the Week back in week one and week five. Through 12 games, Davidson has tallied 20 points (12 G, 8A).  Next, the Adirondack Jr. Thunder host the New England Wolves on the 27th at Cool Insuring Arena at 7 pm.

Boston Division

Matt D'Ortona - Seahawks Hockey Club (G)

The EHLP Boston Division Star of the Week for week six is goaltender Matt D’Ortona from the Seahawks Hockey Club. The ’04 Nashua, NH native earned a huge win in net handing the Railers Jr. Hockey Club their first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory. D’Ortona allowed just one goal and had 34 saves in his second start of the season. Next up, D’Ortona and the Seahawks play the Bridgewater Bandits at 12-Noon on Tuesday at Bridgewater Ice Arena.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Matt Tavares - New Jersey Renegades (F)

The Mid-Atlantic Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Matt Tavares from the New Jersey Renegades. The ’05 native of Pawling, NY had two goals and three assists in his team’s big 6-5 shootout win over the Huntsmen. The Renegades currently hold the top spot in the Mid-Atlantic Division with an 8-4-0 record. Next up, the Renegades host the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Saturday the 28th at 7:45 pm.
