Pair of Goalies Shine For Their New Teams

BOSTON, MA -- Week #13 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Stars of the Week for December 4th through December 10th are presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

North Division

Jonathan Groth - Seacoast Spartans (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Jonathan Groth of the Seacoast Spartans as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’03 native of Newburyport, MA helped his team go 2-0-0 this past week with four goals and an assist. Groth had two goals in a 4-3 overtime win against the New Hampshire Avalanche and two goals and an assist in a 5-0 blanking of the New England Wolves. Groth has been tearing it up for the Spartans this season. In 21 games played, he has 35 points (14G, 21A). Next up, the Spartans take on H.C. Rhode Island on Tuesday at 12-noon in their first game of the Newington Showcase.

East Division

Aidan O'Connell - East Coast Wizards (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Aidan O’Connell from the East Coast Wizards as the East Division Star of the Week. O’Connell, an ’03 native of Wilmington, MA helped his team go 2-0-0 this past week. He had two goals including the game-winner in a huge 3-2 win over the Boston Jr. Rangers. O’Connell also tallied one goal and one assist in a 5-2 win against the Seahawks. In eight games played with the Wizards, O’Connell has seven goals and nine assists. They have been on fire as of late going 7-0-1 in their last eight games. The Wizards play Monday against H.C. Rhode Island in their first game of the Newington Showcase, and then continue on playing the Avalanche on Tuesday, and the Vermont Lumberjacks on Wednesday.

Central Division

Ryan Crowshaw - New York Apple Core (G)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is goalie Ryan Crowshaw from the New York Apple Core. The ’04 native of West Hartford, CT is off to a strong start with his new team after coming over in a trade with the Chiefs. Crowshaw looked impressive in his first two starts with the Apple Core. He posted a 3-0 shutout against the New Jersey 87’s with 28 saves, and in his second start allowed just one goal and had 29 saves in his team’s 6-1 win over Philadelphia Hockey Club. Crowshaw and the Apple Core look to keep it going into the Newington Showcase where they will take on the Valley Jr. Warriors, Philadelphia Little Flyers, and Philadelphia Hockey Club.

South Division

Jake Hugessen - Team Maryland (G)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is Team Maryland goaltender Jake Hugessen. Hugessen, an ’03 native of Toronto, Ontario helped his new team to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers with an impressive showing. Hugessen had an astounding 54-save performance while only allowing one goal in the win. He has looked solid in his first two starts following his trade to Team Maryland. They go into the Newington Showcase on a two-game win streak and will start off playing Express Hockey Club on Tuesday at 6 pm.

New-England Division

Jordan Dickinson - Adirondack Jr Thunder (F)

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Jordan Dickinson from the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as the New England Division Star of the Week. The ’04 South Glen Falls, NY native helped his team go 2-0-0 with two wins over the New Jersey Renegades. Dickinson had a goal and assist in a 6-5 overtime win and two goals in a 10-3 win. He has been a staple for the Jr. Thunder all season with 28 points (13G, 15A) in 21 games played. Adirondack is currently in first place and are 10-0-3 in their last 13 games. They will take on the Vermont Lumberjacks this upcoming weekend in a three-game series Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Leddy Arena.

Boston Division

Michael Bourgeois - Boston Jr Rangers (F)

The EHLP Boston Division Star of the Week for week 13 is forward Michael Bourgeois from the Boston Jr. Rangers. The ’04 Andover, MA native played a big part in his team’s three victories last week. He had a goal and two assists in a 6-5 overtime win over the New Hampshire Avalanche, two assists in a 7-0 shutout of the New England Wolves, and a goal in a 4-2 win over the Wolves. The Jr. Rangers close out the first half of the season with a 21-3-2 record and are currently in first place in the Boston Division. They will be back after holiday break on January 17th against the Railers Jr. Hockey Club.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Ayden Georgiano - New Jersey 87's (F)

The Mid-Atlantic Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Ayden Georgiano from the New Jersey 87’s. The ’03 native of Jackson, NJ had a five-point game in a 7-2 win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers. Georgiano had two goals and three assists in the big win. This is his third star of the week honor and he has been key all season tallying 34 points (13G, 21A) in 22 games. The 87’s are currently in second place in the Mid-Atlantic division with a 13-9-0 record behind the Pennsylvania Huntsmen. Next up, they take on the New Jersey Renegades on Friday at 8:20 pm at SportsCare Arena.
