Final Set of 2023 Top Peformers Named

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) honor the top performers of the month of December, presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

Forward of the Month

Zach Groleau - Connecticut Chiefs

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Zach Groleau of the Connecticut Chiefs as a December Star of the Month. The ’06 native of Canada tallied 14 points (6G, 8A) in the month of December and has been key for the Chiefs all season long. Groleau recorded at least one point in six out of the Chiefs’ seven games and had two four-point games against the Bridgewater Bandits and Connecticut RoughRiders. Though 28 total games played this season, he has tallied an impressive 36 total points (17G, 19A).

Defenseman of the Month

Jack Costabile - Philadelphia Little Flyers

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Jack Costabile of the Philadelphia Little Flyers as a December Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Devon, PA has been a key member of the blue line for the Little Flyers through the team’s first four months. In the month of December, Costabile put up five goals and three assists with his best game coming on December 5th in a 4-3 win over Philadelphia Hockey Club. He has been outstanding all season long totaling 35 points (18G, 17A) in 27 games.

Goaltender of the Month

Adam Casper - Railers Jr Hockey Club

The EHL is pleased to announce Railers Jr. Hockey Club goalie Adam Casper as a December Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Skaneateles, NY was lights out in his five starts this month going 5-0-0 with just four goals allowed and 106 total saves. His most impressive win was a 6-0 shutout over the Providence Hockey Club where he had 25 saves. Through 12 games started, Casper is 11-1-0 with an impressive 1.28 GAA in 748 minutes. He has been a key asset for the red hot Railers who remain on top in the Central Division with a 22-4-1 record and 45 points.

Forward of the Month

Peyton Myers - Express Hockey Club

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Peyton Myers from the Express Hockey Club as a December Star of the Month. The ’04 native from Latrobe, PA had a stellar month for the Express. In the month of December, Myers put up 13 points including seven goals and six assists. He had two hat tricks, one against the Boston Jr Rangers in a 6-5 overtime loss and the other in an 8-1 win over the Chiefs. Through 24 games played, Myers has an impressive 41 points (18G, 23A) and has been a key offensive weapon all season. The Express are (15-6-3) and are in third place in the Boston Division.

Defenseman of the Month

Jim Fitzgerald - Adirondack Jr Thunder

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Jim Fitzgerald of the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as a December Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Queensbury, NY has been a key member of the blue line for the Jr. Thunder all season. In the month of December, Fitzgerald had six goals and six assists with his best game coming in a 6-5 overtime win against the Vermont Lumberjacks where he tallied four points (1G, 3A). Through 24 games, he has tallied 31 points (12G, 19A). The Adirondack Jr. Thunder currently hold the top spot in the New England Division with a 17-4-3 record.

Goaltender of the Month

AJ Murphy - Adirondack Jr Thunder

The EHLP is pleased to announce goalie AJ Murphy of the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as a December Star of the Month. The ’05 native of Auburn, NY went 3-0-0 this month allowing four goals and making 79 total saves. He posted a shutout in a 7-0 win over the Chiefs with 21 saves. Murphy has also been a key part of the Jr. Thunders’ success as through 12 starts, he has gone 7-2-0 with a 2.94 GAA in 713 minutes played.
