Currier Earns 56-Save Shutout

BOSTON, MA -- Week #17 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Stars of the Week for January 8th through January 15th are presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

North Division

Owen Currier - New England Wolves (G)

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Owen Currier of the New England Wolves as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’04 native of Concord, NH was outstanding in his team’s 2-0 shutout win over the Express Hockey Club. Currier allowed no goals and made a stellar 56 saves in the win. Currier has posted a 2.58 GAA in six starts with Wolves this season. The Wolves will be back in action on Friday when they take on the Seacoast Spartans at 12-noon.

East Division

Isak Saldjoughi - Seahawks Hockey Club (G)

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Isak Saldjoughi from the Seahawks Hockey Club as the East Division Star of the Week. Saldjoughi, an ’04 native of Monmdam, Sweden had a terrific performance in his team’s 1-0 win over the Boston Jr. Terriers. He made 26 saves in the shutout victory. He also allowed two goals and had 23 saves in relief, during a 4-3 loss to the Valley Jr. Warriors the previous day. In 15 games for the Seahawks this season, Saldjoughi has a 1.98 GAA. The Seahawks next host H.C. Rhode on Thursday and Friday at Tony Kent Arena.

Central Division

Jake Lindstrom - New York Apple Core (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Jake Lindstrom from the New York Apple Core. The ’04 native of Denver, CO put up eight points (2G, 6A) in three games this week. Lindstrom had a goal and an assist in his team’s 4-1 win over Providence Hockey Club. The following day he posted a goal and four assists in a 10-3 victory over Providence. Lindstrom also chipped in an assist in a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Bears. In 17 games with the Apple Core, Lindstrom has 21 points (7G, 14A). The Apple Core have won 10 straight and are currently chasing the Railers Jr. Hockey Club in the Central Division. The Apple Core will host the Connecticut Chiefs on Thursday at 12-noon.

South Division

Vadim Frolov - Team Maryland (F)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is Team Maryland forward Vadim Frolov. Frolov, an ’03 native of St. Petersburg, Russia had solid performances in his team’s two games this week. In a 6-2 win over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen, Frolov had four goals to set the pace in a big win. He also had two of the three goals in a 3-1 win over the New Jersey 87’s. Frolov has been key all season for Team Maryland putting up 31 points (19G, 12A) in 29 games. Maryland will take on the New Jersey Bears on Tuesday and Wednesday at Flemington Ice Arena.

New-England Division

Landen Jerome - Adirondack Jr Thunder (D)

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Landen Jerome from the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as the New England Division Star of the Week. The ’07 native of Canada /ad a solid showing in his team’s games this week. He had an impressive two goals including the game-tying goal and two assists in a 5-4 comeback win over the New Hampshire Avalanche on Wednesday. Jerome also had an assist in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Chiefs, and a goal in a 4-3 win over the Chiefs. Jerome has been a staple on the blue line all season for the Jr. Thunder with 28 points (8G, 20A) in 25 games. Next up, they host the New England Wolves on Friday and Saturday at Cool Insuring Arena.

Boston Division

Justin Hooper - Valley Jr Warriors (F)

The EHLP Boston Division Star of the Week for week #17 is forward Justin Hooper from the Valley Jr. Warriors. The ’05 Coconut Creek, FL native had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over the Seahawks Hockey Club and had the game-tying goal in a 3-2 overtime win against the Bridgewater Bandits. In eight games with the EHLP Warriors, Hooper has five goals and one assist. The Jr. Warriors currently hold a record of (17-8-3) and are behind just the Railers Jr. Hockey Club and the Boston Jr. Rangers in the Boston Division standings. They host the New Hampshire Avalanche on Wednesday at 11:30 am.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Shawn Kline - Union Jr Thunder (G)

The Mid-Atlantic Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is goaltender Shawn Kline from the Union Jr. Thunder. The ’05 native of Flemington, NJ had two great showings in goal this week. In a 3-0 loss to the NJ 87’s, Kline came in at the end of the second period and allowed no goals and made 14 saves. The following day, he earned the 4-3 win over the New Jersey Renegades. He allowed three goals and had 25 saves. Next up, the Jr. Thunder take on the Pennsylvania Huntsmen on Saturday and Sunday at Power Play Rinks.
