Ushakov's Back-To-Back Two-Goal Games Leads Top Performances

BOSTON, MA -- Week #19 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Stars of the Week for January 23rd through January 29th are presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

North Division

Brendan Manning - Vermont Lumberjacks (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Brendan Manning of the Vermont Lumberjacks as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’03 native of Chandler, AZ had three goals and an assist in his team’s three games this past week. Manning had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win over the Seahawks Hockey Club. He had the overtime game-winner in a thrilling victory against the Valley Jr. Warriors, and a goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Warriors. Manning is having a great season for the Lumberjacks with 32 points (15G, 17A) in 36 games played. Next up for Manning and the Lumberjacks are two games against the Seacoast Spartans on Friday and Saturday at The Rinks at Exeter.

East Division

Jake Pullen - Boston Jr Rangers (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Jake Pullen from the Boston Jr. Rangers as the East Division Star of the Week. Pullen, an ’03 native of Canada had a huge performance in his team’s 7-1 win over the New England Wolves. Pullen had three goals and an assist in the victory. He also chipped in an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Boston Jr. Terriers. Pullen has been a key member of the Jr. Rangers offense all season with 22 points (11G, 11A) in 32 games. The Jr. Rangers continue to keep pace in the East Division with a 23-9-0 record. They host the New Hampshire Avalanche on Tuesday at 10:50 am at Breakaway Ice Center.

Central Division

Gleb Ushakov - New York Apple Core (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Gleb Ushakov from the New York Apple Core. The ’04 native of Russia had two solid performances in his team’s two wins last week. Ushakov had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 blanking of the New Jersey 87’s. He added two more goals in a 7-2 victory over the Connecticut RoughRiders. Ushakov is having a terrific season for the Apple Core with 39 points (14G, 25A) in 33 games. The Apple Core remain hot, winners of their last 13 games and are closing in on the Railers for first place in the Central Division. They'll look to make it 14 straight when they host the RoughRiders on Tuesday at noon.

South Division

Jack Costabile - Philadelphia Little Flyers (D)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is Philadelphia Little Flyers defenseman Jack Costabile. Costabile, an ’03 native of Devon, PA continues to rack up the points with two more goals and three more assists this week. Costabile had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Bears. He also had one goal and two assists in a 4-1 win against the Pennsylvania Huntsmen. Costabile continues to be a force to be reckoned with with 47 points (22G, 25A) in 34 games. He also earned Star of the Week honors back in week four, was a Showcase Star during week 14, and a Player of the Month in both October and December. The Little Flyers have been playing well as of late and next take on the New Jersey 87’s on Friday at 12:30 pm at Jersey Shore Arena.

New-England Division

Josh Arrobas - Adirondack Jr Thunder (F)

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Josh Arrobas from the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as the New England Division Star of the Week. The ’04 native of Canada had a four-point performance in a 7-2 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche. Arrobas had two goals and two assists in the victory. Arrobas has an impressive 40 points (20G, 20A) in just 24 games played for the Jr. Thunder. They continue to hold strong in first place in the New England Division with a 22-5-4 record and 48 total points. They host the Vermont Lumberjacks on Saturday and Sunday at Cool Insuring Arena.

Boston Division

Carter Amidon - Boston Jr Rangers (F)

The EHLP Boston Division Star of the Week for week 19 is forward Carter Amidon from the Boston Jr. Rangers. The ’04 native of Pepperell, MA had two goals in a big 4-2 win over the Avalanche. Amidon has been a strong offensive force for the Jr. Rangers this season with 36 points (20G, 16A) in 28 games played. The Jr. Rangers currently hold a 22-5-2 record and are in second place behind the Railers in the Boston Division. Next up, they host the Express Hockey Club on Sunday night at Breakaway Ice Center at 7:30 pm.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Chris Erasmus - New Jersey 87's (F)

The Mid-Atlantic Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Chris Erasmus from the New Jersey 87’s. The ’05 native of Unionville, CT had the game-winning goal in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win against the Little Flyers. Erasmus also chipped in two assists in the big win. Erasmus currently has 17 points in 27 games played for the 87’s. The 87’s have won three straight and currently hold second place in the Mid-Atlantic Division with a 21-10-0 record. They travel to Newington Arena to take on the Connecticut Chiefs on Wednesday at 12:30 pm.
