January Stars Put Up Big Numbers

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) honor the top performers of the month of January, presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

Forward of the Month

David Basin - New Hampshire Avalanche

The EHL is pleased to announce forward David Basin of the New Hampshire Avalanche as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Russia had a monster month with 20 points (10G, 10A) in eight games played. Basin tallied at least one point in seven of eight games. He had two four-point games, and most recently, a six-point game against the Boston Jr. Rangers. Three of the 10 goals he scored in the month were power-play goals. Basin continues to set the tone for the Avalanche, and though 33 total games played this season, he has tallied an impressive 65 total points (27G, 38A) to his credit.

Defenseman of the Month

Jack Costabile - Philadelphia Little Flyers

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Jack Costabile of the Philadelphia Little Flyers as a January Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Devon, PA has been a key member of the blue line for the Little Flyers all season and shows no signs of slowing down. In the month of January, Costabile put up four goals and seven assists including three power-play goals. He has been outstanding all season long totaling 47 points (22G, 25A) in 35 games.

Goaltender of the Month

Ryan Crowshaw - New York Apple Core

The EHL is pleased to announce New York Apple Core goalie Ryan Crowshaw as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of West Hartford, CT continues to be impressive since joining the Apple Core. In four starts this month, Crowshaw went 4-0-0 with one shutout and a .934 save percentage. His best performance of the month came in a 5-0 win over the New Jersey 87’s where he had 29 saves. In 11 appearances since joining New York, Crowshaw is 10-0-0 with a 1.74 GAA. He has been a crucial part of their 15-game winning streak as the Apple Core now stand in first place in the Central Division with a 27-8-1 record.

Forward of the Month

Harrison Kramer - New England Wolves

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Harrison Kramer from the New England Wolves as a January Star of the Month. The ’06 native from Redlands, CA had an outstanding month for the Wolves. In the month of January, Kramer put up 17 points including nine goals and eight assists. His best performance came in a 10-3 win over the Adirondack Jr. Thunder where Kramer had seven points (5G, 2A). Through 30 games played, Kramer has an outstanding 46 points (24G, 22A) and continues to be key for the Wolves. The Wolves are currently in third place in the New England Division with a 14-13-3 record.

Defenseman of the Month

Landen Jerome - Adirondack Jr Thunder

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Landen Jerome of the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as a January Star of the Month. The ’07 native of Canada has been a key member of the blue line for the Jr. Thunder all season. In the month of January, Jerome had four goals and five assists in just six games played. His best game was a four-point performance (2G, 2A) in a 5-4 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche. Through 27 games, he has tallied 30 points (9G, 21A). The Adirondack Jr. Thunder currently hold the top spot in the New England Division with a 22-5-4 record.

Goaltender of the Month

Ben O'Keefe - Valley Jr Warriors

The EHLP is pleased to announce goalie Ben O’Keefe of the Valley Jr. Warriors as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Tewksbury, MA went 5-0-0 this month in five starts. He allowed just seven total goals and earned a key shutout in a 6-0 win over the Express Hockey Club, where he had 30 saves. In 14 games with the EHLP Jr. Warriors, O’Keefe is 10-2-0 with a 2.53 GAA in 805 minutes played. He has been key down the stretch as the Jr.Warriors are heating up. They are winners of their last seven straight and currently stand in second place in the Boston Division with a 22-8-3 record.
