Apple Core, Express Lead The Way

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) honor the top performers of the month of February, presented by Hockey Night in Boston.

Forward of the Month

Maxim Maziarchuk - New York Apple Core

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Maxim Maziarchuk of the New York Apple Core as a February Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Belarus had an outstanding month with 17 points (8G, 9A) in eight games played. Maziarchuk tallied at least one point in all of the Apple Core’s eight games and made his presence known on the ice. He had a four-point game with two goals and two assists in a win over the Connecticut Chiefs. Four of the eight goals he scored in the month were power-play goals. In 12 total games with the Apple Core, Maziarchuk has 20 points (11G, 9A).

Defenseman of the Month

Davis Kinne - New York Apple Core

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Davis Kinne of the New York Apple Core as a February Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Swampscott, MA has been a key member of the blue line for the Apple Core all season and has been remarkable down the stretch. In the month of February, Kinne put up four goals and eleven assists as his team remained on a tear. He has been outstanding all season long totaling 46 points (9G, 37A) in 42 games.

Goaltender of the Month

Jake Hugessen - Team Maryland

The EHL is pleased to announce Team Maryland goalie Jake Hugessen as a February Star of the Month. The ’03 native of Canada continues to be impressive since joining the team back in December. In six starts this month, Hugessen went 4-2-0 with two shutouts. His best performance of the month came in a 2-1 shootout win over the Little Flyers where he allowed just one goal and had 51 saves. In 23 total appearances this season, Hugesson is 12-8-0 with a 2.32 GAA in 1,294 minutes played. Team Maryland has clinched a playoff spot and are currently in third place in the South Division with a 22-17-4 record.

Forward of the Month

Peyton Myers - Express Hockey Club

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Peyton Myers from the Express Hockey Club as a February Star of the Month. The ’04 native from Latrobe, PA had an outstanding month for the Express. In the month of February, Myers put up 20 points including seven goals and 13 assists. His best performance came in a 7-2 win over the Boston Jr. Rangers where he had five points (1G, 4A). Through 38 games played, Myers has an eye-opening 72 points (30G, 42A) and continues to be an offensive threat for the Express. This is Myers' second Player of the Month honor. The Express are currently in third place in the Boston Division with a 25-10-3 record.

Defenseman of the Month

Drew Coady - Express Hockey Club

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Drew Coady of the Express Hockey Club as a February Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Franklin, MA has been a key member of the blue line for the Express all season and shows no signs of slowing down. In the month of February, Coady had six goals and 10 assists in eight games played. His best game was a five-point performance (2G, 3A) in a 7-2 win over the Seahawks Hockey Club. Through 38 games, he has tallied 48 points (23G, 25A). Coady was also a Star of the Month back in September.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Chris Gingras - Railers Jr Hockey Club

The EHLP is pleased to announce goalie Chris Gingras of the Railers Jr. Hockey Club as a February Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Canada went 3-0-0 this month in three starts. He allowed just three total goals and earned a key shutout in a 2-0 win over the Chiefs, where he had 16 saves. In 13 games with the Railers, Gringas is a perfect 13-0-0 with a 1.74 GAA in 774 minutes played, and only 25 total goals allowed. The red-hot Railers are the regular season champions for the EHLP, winners of 12 straight, and have the best record (36-3-0-0) with three regular season games left.
