It did not take long for the Railers to strike, and just like yesterday it was Jaymin Rolfe opening up the scoring. Nolan Tomczyk and Luke Castor, a couple of captains for the Railers would grab the assists. The response would come in the form of Nik Shoats for the 87’s firing one home from the slot. Nick Hunter flipped it in to space, and Shoats made no mistake for his second of the post season. It was a back and forth first, with both teams doing a good job of limiting high danger chances. After one period of play we were tied at one. Smith stopped 6/7 in the first and Gingras stopped 5/6.

Much like the first, it did not take long to find our first goal of the middle frame. This time it was the 87’s potting the first goal of the period and taking their first lead of the day 2-1. Ivan Borisov scored just over three minutes in to the period. Less than a minute later it was Jaymin Rolfe scoring his second of the day to level the playing field. The scoring didn’t stop there, Ivan Borisov would soon after score his second of the day. Liam Pouliot would head to the box at 6:50 of the second period, and Nik Shoats would pot his second of the day on a great feed from Ayden Georgiano. The 87’s would head to their second power play of the day late in the second. The Railers would kill it off and shortly after cut in to the lead on a breakaway beauty from Zack Warner–Senee. A five goal second would come to an end with New Jersey leading 4-3.

You had a feeling the goal scoring wouldn’t stop in this one. About five minutes in Brooks Wright hopped on a loose puck in front of the net and tied things at four. The goaltenders would slow down the scoring for quite some time. Chris Gingras made a phenomenal stop on Robert Calice in the slot with 7:40 to go. Just 37 seconds later Will Celli pulled a faceoff back to Sonny Arsenault who made no mistake firing it home. The Railers would jump ahead 5-4.  Chris Gingras would shut the door the rest of the way and the Zack Warner-Senee would hit the empty net to secure a 6-4 win. The Railers are that much closer to Championship Saturday!

The Railers improve to 2-0 in round robin play, and the 87’s Fall to 0-2. We spoke to Head Coach John Fine-Lease post game. “ We started off a little slow, but still had no doubt we could come back in the third.” Jaymin Rolfe potted two goals and credited his linemates for his success. “Our line played great, it’s easy to create with that much skill around you.”
