87's Veteran Forward Set to Join Cougars this Fall

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ -- Ryan Karbach, a forward for the New Jersey 87's, has committed to Misericordia University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Berlin, NJ began his career with the 87's at the 18U level, back in the 2021-22 season. Once his year of midget hockey was finished, he jumped up with the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) team, for the conclusion of their regular season and postseason. The forward then went on to spend a pair of full years with New Jersey's top team, ultimately hitting the ice for 108 career games in the EHL, tallying 30 points along the way.

"Ryan has been an 87 since our inception of our 18U program and has been instrumental in our success at the EHL level for the past two seasons," said 87's head coach and general manager Adam Houli. “He is a extremely strong skater, who can play with pace and has the ability to win battles in corners in each zone. He is going to be a very successful player in college and choosing a new program is the perfect fit for Ryan. I cannot wait to watch him over the next four years!"

As Houli mentioned, Karbach has chosen a new program for this fall, as Misericordia will be kicking of their first season at the NCAA Division III level this upcoming October. Karbach will be part of an incoming freshmen class that includes nine other players from around the EHL.

"I want to thank my family and my teammates for the past 3 seasons who have been with me for this ride," said Karbach. "I am very excited to be a student-athlete at Misericordia University and I cant wait to get started! I am looking forward to the next 4 years and I will always be an 87!"
