FLEMINGTON, NJ -- Mathew Fortin, a forward for the New Jersey Bears, has committed to Western New England University for the fall of 2024.
An '03 from Adstock, QC, Canada, Fortin had an impressive 2023-24 season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), playing 39 games and recording 16 goals and 13 assists for a total of 29 points.
"I have seen Matt grow as a person and hockey player for the last three years and I am so excited for him and his family on his accomplishment of playing Division 3 college hockey," said Bears head coach Jason Kilcoyne.
He will be teaming up with Jake Costa from H.C. Rhode Island, Philippe Longchamps from the New England Wolves, Malachy Beyer and Jake Hines (committed for 2025-26) from the New Hampshire Avalanche, Aaron Racino from the Seacoast Spartans, and J.J. Alger (committed for 2025-26) from the Seahawks Hockey Club.
"I would like to thank my family, coaches, billet, teammates, and everyone that helped me achieve my dream of playing college hockey," said Fortin. "I'm really excited to start a new chapter in my life at WNE."
