BOSTON, MA -- Denis Valenta, an '03 forward from the Czech Republic, spent two seasons in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and recently committed to Saint Mary's University (SMU) for the fall of 2024.
Over the course of Valenta's two seasons in the EHL, he hit the ice for 75 total games combined between the regular season and the postseason. Throughout that time, Valenta collected 67 points to his credit on 27 goals and 40 assists.
"Going to Saint Mary’s is more than just exciting for me, St. Mary’s has been my top option for a while and I am very grateful to get this opportunity," said Valenta. "I definitely couldn’t have done it without the help of my teammates and all the coaches who have supported me along the way. With a group of great guys each year, and the guidance of my coaches, I believe I was able to grow not only as a hockey player, but as a person too, and I am super excited to start this new chapter of my life."
Overall, Valenta is the 17th player in league history that chose St. Mary's for the next step in his respective career, and 2nd from this past season. When he arrives on campus, he will team up with Joey Oliver from the Boston Jr. Terriers.
