HOOKSETT, NH -- Ryan Dann, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Wilkes University for the fall of 2025.
An '04 from the Avalanche program, Dann played 37 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games in the 2023-24 season, recording four goals and four assists. He is returning to the EHL for the 2024-25 season, where he has already made an impact, scoring a goal in his team's first game of the season.
"Ryan has done it all for us. He followed our process and developed every year," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He played midget and junior in both the EHLP and EHL and never took it for granted. He is a great player and a great young man. He will develop with us one more season before going off to a very good NCAA Division III college hockey program. Wilkes was 15-5 in league and 18-9 overall last season. Ryan will be a great addition to Wilkes, both on the ice and in the classroom."
Dann shared his excitement about committing to Wilkes.
"I’m excited to announce my commitment to Wilkes University," said Dann. "I want to thank my family, teammates, and coaches at the Avalanche program for pushing me to get better every day. I can’t wait to make this next step in my hockey career and to be a Colonel for 4 years! I will continue to develop my game in the EHL with Coach Cerrella and hope to bring an EHL Championship back to Hooksett."
Dann and the Avalanhce split their pair of opening games last week, beating the Boston Jr. Terriers by a score of 7-1 on Thursday, and dropping a tough 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Valley Jr. Warriors on Friday. New Hampshire returns to action on Friday, when they travel down to the Cape to take on the Seahawks Hockey Club at 7:30 pm.
