Top EHL & EHLP Performers for Week #2

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Announce Stars of Week Two for September 24th through 30th.

Eastern Hockey League

North Division

Brenden Fields - New England Wolves (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Brenden Fields of the New England Wolves as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’05 native of Ladera Ranch, CA tallied six points (3G, 3A) in his team’s first three games of the season. Fields scored a goal and an assist in the Wolves 4-2 win over the Valley Jr. Warriors. He scored the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Bridgewater Bandits, and had three points (1G, 2A) in a big 5-4 win over the Boston Jr. Eagles. Fields and the Wolves will look to keep it going this week in the October Showcase. Their first game is Thursday against the Seahawks Hockey Club at 1:00pm.

East Division

Joey Ala - East Coast Wizards (F)

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Joey Ala from the East Coast Wizards as the East Division Star of the Week. Ala, an '04 native of Concord, NH scored two goals in each of the Wizards' games this past week. Ala's second goal in Friday's 7-2 victory was the game-winner vs. the Connecticut Nor'easter. He then followed that up with two more goals in a 4-2 win over the Bandits on Monday. Ala and the Wizards will take to the ice again on Thursday against the Boston Jr. Terriers for their first game of the October Showcase.

Central Division

Deaglan Kelly - Providence Capitals (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Deaglan Kelly from the Providence Capitals. The ’04 native of Franklinville, NJ had a huge week tallying eight points (3G, 5A) in three games. After putting up 37 points with the club a season ago, Kelly is off to a great start this season. He had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over the Seahawks, added an assist in a 2-1 loss to the Vermont Lumberjacks, and had a monster game factoring into five of the team’s six goals in a 6-2 win over the Lumberjacks. The Capitals will be back in action Thursday taking on the New York Apple Core in the first game of the October Showcase at 3:00pm.

South Division

Owen House - New Jersey Bears (F)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is New Jersey Bears forward Owen House. House, an ’04 native of Plymouth, MN had two big games this week scoring eight points (3G, 5A) in two wins. In an 8-3 win over the Apple Core, House had two goals and two assists. Two days later, the Bears beat the Apple Core 10-5 and House contributed a goal and three assists in the win. House is off to a hot start with 13 points (6G, 7A) in the team's first four games. The Bears will look to stay in the win column Friday taking on the Boston Jr. Eagles in the October Showcase.

North Division

Deagan Rathburn - New Hampshire Avalanche (G)

The EHLP is pleased to announce goaltender Deagan Rathburn from the New Hampshire Avalanche as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’05 St. Albans, VT native had two solid outings in goal this week, earning wins in both of them. The first was a 2-1 win over the Valley Jr. Warriors. Rathburn allowed one goal and had 36 saves in the impressive victory. He followed that performance up with a 3-0 shutout over the Express Hockey Club. Rathburn had 29 saves in the win. He is off to a great start with the Avalanche so far going 3-1-0 in four games started and a 2.13 GAA. The Avalanche will be back in action Thursday taking on the Seahawks in the October Showcase at 5:00pm.

East Division

Nolan Quirk - Providence Capitals (F)

The EHLP East Division Star of the Week for week two is forward Nolan Quirk from the Providence Capitals. The ’06 South Kingstown, RI native had two goals and five assists in three games this week. Quirk scored a goal and two assists in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Seahawks, added an assist in an 8-5 win over the Lumberjacks and had a goal and two assists in a big 8-2 win over the Lumberjacks. Quirk is off to a hot start with the Capitals with eight points in the first four games. The Capitals will look to make it three straight when they take on Nor’Easter on Tuesday at Rhode Island Sports Center at 11:30am.

Christopher Erasmus - New Jersey 87's (F)

The South Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Chistopher Erasmus from the New Jersey 87’s. The ’05 native of Unionville, CT had a great showing helping his team go 2-0-0 this week. Erasmus scored two goals in the 87’s 3-0 shutout win over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen. Erasmus then tallied three assists in a 9-3 win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers. Next up, they play the Capitals on Friday at 8:00pm in the October Showcase.
