Follow along with the action throughout the EHL Showcase Series

WALPOLE, MA -- The second leg of the Eastern Hockey League's showcase series is underway, as teams from the North, East and Central Divisions are competing in the Walpole Regional Showcase at Cadillac Ice Arena, home of the Express Hockey Club.

Day Three

New Hampshire Avalanche 5 - Connecticut RoughRiders 0

The Avalanche scored four goals in the third period as they blanked the RoughRiders and earned their eighth consecutive win.

AJ Guzzardi opened the scoring in the first period with his third goal of the season. After a scoreless second, Owen Guerin, Ethan Audy, Jake Hines and Grant Burback found the back of the net in the third as the Avs picked up their 12th win of the season. Will Seagrave made 17 saves en route to his third shutout of the year.

HC Rhode Island 5 - New York Apple Core 2

Austin Haldane, Peyton Myers and Jarret Rainey-Gibson all had a goal plus an assist in Rhode Island's 5-2 win over Apple Core.

Apple Core forward George Truicko put his team up 1-0 with a goal late in the first, but Myers responded 2:10 later to even things up.

In a back-and-forth middle frame, Inde Abresch put Rhode Island ahead, though Tyler Gobel netted his team-leading sixth goal of the season to make it 2-2. Rainey-Gibson buried the go-ahead goal in the waning stages of the second period, giving Rhode Island the lead back for good. Kyler Sun and Haldane provided some insurance with goals in the third period, as Rhode Island finished the Walpole showcase with two wins in three games.

East Coast Wizards 5 - Valley Jr. Warriors 1

Daxton St. Hillaire recorded a hat trick plus an assist while Joey Ala had a goal and three helpers in the Wizards' 5-1 win over the Warriors.

St. Hillaire broke the game open early in the first period with two goals in a span of 36 seconds. Quinn Murray got one back for the Warriors midway through the second period, but Max Tong responded for the Wizards and put them up 3-1.

The Wizards pulled away in the third as Ala scored five minutes in, and St. Hillaire completed the hat trick late in the game; the win puts the Wizards three points ahead of the Express for first place in the East Division.

Boston Jr. Eagles 3 - Boston Dukes 2 (F/SO)

The Jr. Eagles closed out the Walpole Showcase with a 3-2 shootout win over the Dukes. Both teams traded goals throughout the game; Nick Haust got things rolling for the Eagles in the first period with his fifth goal of the season, and the Dukes got one back early in the second period with a goal from Carter Lee. 

That trend continued in the third period, Brady Clark put the Eagles ahead early in the period, but Alex Cameron punched home a rebound in the final minute of regulation to tie it back up for the Dukes.

Neither side scored in overtime, and the Eagles' leading scorer Riley Van Son scored the only goal in the shootout to seal the victory. It was also the first time the Jr. Eagles have won consecutive games this season.

Day Two

Boston Jr. Terriers 9 - Boston Dukes 2

In the Battle of Boston, the Jr. Terriers prevailed with a 9-2 win over the Dukes as four different Terriers skaters recorded three points.

Sam Renaud and Nolan Berner each had a goal and two assists while Brenden Wolff and Michael Fischer both recorded three assists. Dale Campbell and Kenny Thurston recorded a goal and an assist each, and goaltender Ayden Pierce made 29 saves on 31 shots. Tyler Barnes and Justin Wammes were Dukes' goal scorers.

Valley Jr. Warriors 4 - Bridgewater Bandits 1

The Warriors got back on the win column with a 4-1 victory over the Bandits. JJ Dean put the Bandits up early, scoring 63 seconds into the game. Warriors forward Austin Peterson responded with a goal of his own just 40 seconds later, and the team carried all the momentum from there.

Quinn Murray netted his first two goals of the season, then Quannah Morrison rounded out the scoring with a tally late in the second period. Valley goaltender Jake Davies finished the day with 29 saves on 30 shots. 

Express Hockey Club 10 - Connecticut RoughRiders 0

The Express erupted for six goals in the third period as they knocked down the RoughRiders for their fifth straight win.

Charles Day and Lode Arts scored in the first period, and the Express tacked on two more in the second with goals from Simon Ruel and Sonny Arsenault. In the final period, Myles Kidd scored twice while Arts and Ruel tallied their second goals of the game. Express goaltender Lukas Toth pitched a 21-save shutout.

New England Wolves 3 - Seahawks Hockey Club 2

The Wolves scored two goals in the third period to pull ahead of the Seahawks for a 3-2 victory.

The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period, as Seahawks defender Zander Zels and Wolves defender Ryan Sember found the back of the net. Cory Kashul put the Seahawks up 2-1 early in the second period with his fourth goal of the season, but the Wolves took over in the third.

Harrison Kramer tied the game with a power-play goal for his 12th tally of the season. RJ Sember scored the go-ahead goal later in the period for his sixth of the season, and the Wolves held on and closed out their 11th win of the year.

New York Apple Core 5 - Providence Capitals 3

Apple Core stunned the Caps with a 5-3 victory, led by Gage Winter's three-point game (2g, 1a) and Liam Lane's 49-save performance.

Liam Crowley scored first for the Capitals in the opening period, but New York responded with goals from Winter and Gobel just 1:13 apart. Apple Core extended the lead to 4-1 in the middle frame with goals from David Toman and Winter again, but the Capitals responded with two unanswered goals from Deaglan Kelly and Rodion Trushkin.

Evan Manna provided an insurance tally for New York, and Lane stopped all 20 shots he faced in the third period including a breakaway chance from Kelly. Jordan Grabine, Aliaksandr Leskavets and Bauer Crooks had two assists each in the Apple Core win.

HC Rhode Island 5 - Vermont Lumberjacks 2

Rhode Island snapped a three-game losing streak as they took down the Lumberjacks 5-2. Austin Haldane and Cooper Hall each had a goal and two assists.

Mike Bianco and Haldane scored in the first period to give Rhode Island a 2-0 lead. Jackson Duquette scored for the Lumberjacks midway through the first, but Rhode Island regained a two-goal lead as Jarret Rainey-Gibson netted his seventh of the season.

Vermont forward JT Gary cut the deficit back to one early in the third period with a shorthanded goal for his third of the season. Rhode Island took over from there, as Owen Larson and Hall found the back of the net to secure Rhode Island's win.

Boston Jr. Eagles 6 - Connecticut Nor'Easter 2

The Eagles' offense overpowered the Nor'Easter in a 6-2 victory as Riley Van Son notched a goal plus an assist.

Cullen Lacey scored a shorthanded goal just 1:47 into the first period to put Boston up 1-0, though Connecticut responded later with a goal from Christopher Sager.

The Jr. Eagles started the second period with three goals in a span of 3:07, as Michael Bourgeois, Brady Clark and Nick Haust found the back of the net to give Boston a 4-1 lead. Jacob Kettwig tallied a shorthanded goal for the Nor'Easter, but the Eagles scored two more goals in the third, coming from Max O'Connell and a shorthanded goal from Van Son.

Day One

Express Hockey Club 2 - East Coast Wizards 0

The hosting Express Hockey Club opened the regional showcase with a 2-0 win over the East Coast Wizards. Expresss goaltender Alex Koenig made 31 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season as the team picked up its fourth consecutive win.

After a scoreless first period, the Express struck twice in a span of 6:16 in the second period. Nate Brissett got on the board first, then Drew Coady added a power-play tally for his first EHL goal. Ville Bodin finished the game with two assists while Loade Arts recorded a helper as well.

Bridgewater Bandits 4 - HC Rhode Island 1

The Bandits ended a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over HC Rhode Island. Brennan Lopes had a goal and an assist while goaltender Avery Rovira-Heweet made 29 saves on 30 shots.

Rhode Island opened the scoring late in the first period with a goal from Cooper Hall, but the Bandits evened things up two minutes later as Lopes notched his third goal of the season. Christian Golic gave Bridgewater the lead with a goal in the second period, then Brogan Andrus and Liam Fecteau iced the game with goals in the third period. Ben Dias, who leads the Bandits in points, recorded an assist in the win and now has five points in his last three games.

Connecticut Nor'Easter 5 - Seahawks Hockey Club 2

Micaiah Bascombe (1g, 3a) and Gavin Brandon (2g, 2a) had four points each as the Connecticut Nor'Easter beat the Seahawks Hockey Club 5-2.

Bascombe and Jackson Gruber both scored in the first period to put Connecticut up 2-0 after 20 minutes. Jacob Roberts and Garret Bouschor scored for the Seahawks in the middle period, but a Nor'Easter goal by Jacob Kettwig kept the team in front at the end of the second. 

Brandon took over in the third period, scoring a shorthanded goal 30 seconds into the final stanza, then sealed the win with an empty-netter and his ninth goal of the season. Bascombe, who assisted on both of Brandon's goals, is up to 18 points (7g, 11a) through 13 games. He matched his point total from last season with 18 points in 36 games.

New Hampshire Avalanche 3 - Providence Capitals 1

The New Hampshire Avalanche extended its winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory over the Providence Capitals. 

Providence opened the scoring early in the first period as Deaglan Kelly notched his league-leading 13th goal of the season. The Avs tied it up later in the period as Noah Rogers potted his second goal of the season, and Danny Storella gave New Hampshire the lead with a goal in the second period. Ryan O'Leary tallied an empty-net goal in the final minute of regulation, and Avs goaltender Alex Gerard stymied the Caps' offense with 37 saves on 38 shots. Gerard, playing in his second season with the Avs' EHL team, is off to a 7-0-1 start and a .946 save percentage.

Boston Jr. Terriers 4 - Vermont Lumberjacks 3 (F/OT)

Michael Fischer recorded two points incuding the overtime-winning goal in the Terriers' 4-3 win over the Lumberjacks.

Boston struck twice in the opening period with goals from Nathan McDougall and Cam Gwatkin. Vermont responded just 11 seconds after Gwatkin's goal as Gavin Bernsten scored his fifth goal of the season. Both teams traded goals in the second period as Brayson Bennett evened the score for the Lumberjacks, then Nathaniel McFarlane found the back of the net for the Terriers. 

Lumberjacks foward Colden Lawrence tied the game once again with a goal midway through the third period. In overtime, Fischer charged to the net on a partial breakaway and buried his second goal of the season, giving the Terriers the extra point.

Connecticut RoughRiders 7 - Boston Dukes 2

Victor Gonzalez and Matt McCormack each had two goals and two assists in the RoughRiders' 7-2 win over the Dukes, as the team picks up their third straight victory.

Connecticut took a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes with goals from Korey Cardenas Aston, Ashton Delmonico and Gonzalez. After Gonzalez notched his second goal in the middle frame, the RoughRiders ran away with the lead in the third period as Connor Hetherington and McCormack combined for three goals. RoughRiders forward Stepan Sidorkin tallied three assists in the win, giving him 16 points (4g, 12a) through 12 games this season.

New England Wolves 4 - New York Apple Core 0

The Wolves closed out Day One of the Walpole showcase with a 4-0 win over New York Apple Core.

Nikita Laschenko put the Wolves in front early in the first period with his fourth goal of the season. Neither side scored in the second, but New England opened things up in the third with goals from Dmitrijs Leins, Jack Kovacs and Alex Roy. Cam Reardon earned his first shutout of the season by making 24 saves.
